As a member of Serco’s Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO), the legacy of famed firm JJMA, you will be joining one of the largest and most accomplished Maritime Engineering groups with a 70-year heritage of excellence. This team works collaboratively on naval engineering contracts supporting the Navy, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and other commercial customers to drive innovation and deliver solutions that address the complex challenges. As we continue to expand our operations and partnerships, we are seeking survivability experience with a penchant for knowledge and ability to absorb from Serco’s subject matter experts at our Arlington, VA office. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the US Navy.In this role, you will:Conduct detailed analysis and assessments of ship survivability features and systems.Develop and implement strategies to enhance ship survivability against various threats, including but not limited to ballistic, blast, and underwater threats.Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate survivability solutions into new ship designs and retrofit existing vessels.Perform vulnerability assessments and survivability testing, including live fire and simulated scenarios.Analyze damage control capabilities and recommend improvements to shipboard systems and procedures.Provide technical guidance and support during ship construction, repair, and maintenance activities.Prepare detailed reports and presentations on survivability assessments, test results, and improvement recommendations.Stay current with advancements in survivability technology and incorporate best practices into the organization's processes.To be successful in this role, you must have:An Active Secret Clearance.Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in ship survivability.Strong knowledge of ship design principles, materials science, and engineering practices related to survivability.Experience with survivability analysis tools and software.Proven ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and survivability testing.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead cross-functional projects.Ability to travel 10%Serco Inc.
