We use state-of-the-art sequencing technologies to identify Mí¼ller glia- and microglia-specific changes in gene expression in cep290 and bbs2 models to elucidate the relationship between inflammation and regeneration. We will also identify and test specific ligand-receptor pairs to identify the mechanisms that maintain Notch signaling in the zebrafish degeneration mutants and identify key factors that stimulate NF-kB signaling. Understanding the mechanisms that underpin retinal regeneration in multiple zebrafish disease models will generate novel hypotheses that can ultimately be translated into humans with retinal degenerative diseases. A caregiver in this position works Days, from 8:30am"”5:00pm.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for experimental studies.Perform technical lab duties.Schedule and perform various analyses.Assist with establishing and scheduling various procedures and analyses.Prepare reagents, purify chemicals, and identify, separate and quantify various substances.Conduct testing and procedures utilizing laboratory equipment and instrumentation.Accumulate data from analyses.Prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables, publications, grant proposals and applications for research forms.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High school diploma or GED.2 years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR an associate's degree in a laboratory science field and 1 year of work experience OR a bachelor's degree.Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
