GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.The Finance Department of the Northeast Ohio Divisional Headquarters is committed to promoting the building of the Kingdom of God through The Salvation Army by providing supportive services to the officers and administrative personnel of Corps Community Centers and other program entities in order to assist each to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities inherent with their appointments or assigned responsibilities. Our pledge is to provide within reasonable expectations:Timely & accurate fiscal reporting to Divisional Headquarters administrationConsultation in order to maintain a high level of fiscal stewardship and integrityTimely & accurate fiscal reporting to Territorial Headquarters administrationInternal auditing to assure administration of appropriate fiscal managementEducation of all financial personnelProvide recommendations to maintain positive fund balances.To further the missions of The Salvation Army and the NEOSA DHQ Finance Department by the maintenance of manual and/or computerized accounting records for the Northeast Ohio Divisional Headquarters; including, but not limited to, analysis and assistance in all aspects of the accounting for the Divisional Funds (General, Divisional Deposit, DHQ Building, Service Extension, Camp) and projects as assigned.As an integral part of the Finance Department team, the Accountant is directly responsible to the Chief Accountant with interactive cooperation with the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance. Refer to Departmental Organization Chart.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.Territorial ConsolidationCorps Financial Statements (in lieu of independent audits)Assist with independent audits as requested including but not limited to schedule preparationMonthly review for budget compliance (Communicate w/dept heads)Assist with Fiscal Closing DHQ Funds as requestedAssist with internal audits as assigned (including periodic lead auditor)Maintenance of accounting ledgers as received from Territorial Headquarters for the Fixed Assets (Vehicles)Review and maintenance of the accounting ledgers as received from Territorial Headquarters for the NEOSA Reserves-coordinate with Accountant position.Prepare and/or review necessary journals and journal batch listingsUnderstand general duties of the following positions to be prepared to fill in during vacations, illness etc.: HQ Deposits/Capital Accounts PayableDevelop well rounded knowledge of all Salvation Army Accounting Systems including but not limited to divisional accounting system (Serenic) and Power BIProcess Weekly Imports for mail appeal and online donationsProcess Bank Reconciliations foe the operating account and special appeals account.As requested, provide periodic reviews of ledgers for corrections, etcSpecial projectsOther requests by Divisional Fiscal Director as well as FS & ADF (maintaining coordination of duties through the Divisional Fiscal Director)MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE. Bachelor's Degree with Major in Accounting (or related field), CPA preferred 5-10 years experience in the accounting field Proficient skill in Excel and other Microsoft Office software Knowledge of computerized accounting software packages Schedule and perform designated responsibilities with minimal supervision.
