POSITION TITLE: Project Safety ProfessionalDEPARTMENT: Health & SafetyLOCATION: Stratford, Connecticut SALARY RANGE: $50,000 to $60,000 annual plus pension and profit sharingJOB NUMBER: 2024-G319-01DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Sevenson Environmental is a nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor that continually looks to acquire talented individuals who are recent graduates of a safety related degree program to enhance Sevenson's Safety Professional Group. You will become a crucial support for remediation projects throughout the United States. Initial allocation will be in the Stratford, Connecticut area. At this location you would work with a mentor who is well versed in occupational safety and industrial hygiene while interfacing with project management staff. Upon completion of this mentoring and onboarding, you will report to the Director of Health and Safety for continued growth and assignment.What can I typically expect my day to look like:Support of site management by implementing the site's specific Safety and Health ProgramConduct job site observations to identify existing or potentially unsafe/at risk conditionsProvide assistance with investigations for near miss, injury/illness, or property damage events or spills Collaborate to identify root causes and assist supervision/management in developing corrective actionsCoach workers on risk mitigation strategies and effective use of PPEAssist with preparation of risk analyses for upcoming tasks as well as audit existing activities for accuracyHelp foster a workplace with a positive safety culturePromote eliminating at risk behaviors through coaching and alternate methodologiesExecute emergency preparedness plan procedures and policiesConduct real time and integrated air monitoring as well as heat stress and noise assessmentsEstablish exclusion and contamination reduction zonesProcure necessary PPE and other resources to support implementation of the safety programSKILLS/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree or higher in an occupational safety related programOSHA 30-hour OSHA Construction Outreach Card (desired)OSHA 40-hour and subsequent 8-hour refresher HAZWOPER (desired)Current first aid and CPR/AED training certificate (desired)Able to identify workplace hazards and recommend abatement strategiesMust have valid driver's license and have a good driving record (motor vehicle record reviewed as a condition of employment)Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical and wear a respiratorDesignated safety sensitive position, medical or recreational marijuana not permittedSALARY/BENEFITS:An employee's salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
