It is central to our purpose to celebrate life, every day, everywhere Job Title: Innovation, Ideation Director (Fixed Term Contract - 6 MONTHS) Level: 4 (permanent) Reports To : Jeff Fink, VP Innovation, Ideation & Creative Director SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Diageo North America Innovation exists to create big ideas that drive growth, and this group continues to deliver an impressive contribution to the company's overall performance. Diageo has established challenging Innovation targets built on key strategic platforms and have achieved our ambition of generating more than 50% of company growth year on year by using a robust pipeline of innovation. We are seeking an Innovation, Ideation Director that can be the spark that ignites big ideas - from establishing solid strategic foundations, masterful consumer research techniques and methodologies and a creative dexterity to lead and inspire creative solutions in support of the wider Innovation & Marketing team. The candidate's primary responsibility will be to help shape and implement the North American Innovation pipeline - providing thought-leadership, strategic grounding, insight skill (category/consumer/cultural), inspiring ideation sessions & creative solutions that instigate big sustainable, strategic & scalable innovation ideas. While this Director will not have direct reports, he/she/they will support the innovation work across the total North America business (Spirits, DBC & Canada) and require ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners. GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE: Strategic Framing - Contribute & support category & brand growth Innovation opportunities by proactively mining and synthesizing business goals, category dynamics, competitor understanding and consumer/cultural insights to provide strategic grounding for Innovation pipeline. Consumer Champion - Champion and ensure a clear understanding of consumer motivations and occasions (identified demand spaces), consumer & cultural trends and their implications for innovation and marketing activities. Planning Mastery - Champion and embed mastery level planning principles to build internal capabilities around Diageo Way of Brand Building (DWBB) Brand Positioning, Diageo Way of Innovating (DWOI), 5W's Framework (WHO/WHAT/WHERE/WHEN/WHY), Concept Writing and brand learning/research plans. A proficiency in analytical thinking, quantitative and qualitative methodologies will be preferred as this unique and exciting role is a balance of analytical thinking, idea generation and creativity. Inspiring Ideation & Creative Flair - Become the muse for breakthrough thinking and innovative creativity through inspiring team dynamics, facilitating actionable brainstorms and best-in-class briefs with creative agencies. The ability to write, design and dramatize ideas to inspire & engage both consumers and the organization. KEY CAPABILITIES REQUIRED Influence - must have proven ability to influence partners at the most senior levels as well as with Innovation & Marketing teams. The candidate must be highly skilled at influencing both in formal situations as well as informally situations - as an integral member of the Innovation team. Great Relationships - requires candidate to interact successfully with a complex organization including Innovation Department, various brand teams involved in projects and agencies. The candidate must have a proven track record in being able to work through complexity in a cross-functional team using strong relationships as a foundation. Results Oriented - must excel in the area of prioritization under tight and imperative deadlines and be reliant with changing circumstances to ensure focused efforts are providing the most value for the department and the business. Idea Architect - entrepreneurial spirit who can act as a creative spark to the innovation and wider organization - bringing a sense of inspiration, empowerment and contagious passion to create products that both consumers and Diageo will love. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 10+ years of experience in market research and/or agency planning Diageo experience a plus or experience within Wine, Beer, Spirits industry Exceptional intuition for business, communication, interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills Strong planning & research skills, including application of a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies Ability to facilitate, constructively challenge and inspire brainstorming/ideation sessions with a wide variety of personalities and roles Confident in challenge existing thinking to deliver breakthrough ideas that are a win for consumers, our brands and for Diageo Proven ability to drive step change and lead teams who are delivering large scale/complex projects Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment within a complex organization Experience of agency environment beneficial (advertising, marketing or market research) Previous Diageo experience is a plus Previous Ideation & Innovation experience is a plus Worker Type : Consultant Primary Location: 3WTC Additional Locations : Stamford Job Posting Start Date : 2024-09-10 With over 200 brands sold in more than 180 countries, we're the world's leading premium drinks company.
