Population Health Data Analyst Job ID: R-37724 Job Type: Full time Location: Shawnee Mission, Kansas Save Job Saved Job Position Summary / Career Interest:The Data Analyst is a vital role for the ambulatory division as we focus on value-based care and population health at The University of Kansas Health System. This position focuses on our population health clinical programs and value-based program performance based on utilization and other key quality metrics. This position will have knowledge of many tools provided both internally as well as by our community partners and include information such as contract performance, analytic and claims data, and clinical data to understand and consistently improve our ambulatory population health program performance.Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsInterpret and analyze population health data from multiple sources including claims, providers, members, and encounters data. Identify and assess the business impact of trends.Consult with clients to understand business requirements and deliver appropriate data solutions to meet their needs.Provide data driven recommendations to internal departments on an ongoing basis in support of population health programs and initiatives set by payors and external quality performance improvement program metrics.Develop and present reports, analyses and findings to management and others as scheduled or requested.Study internal and external patient utilization data that identify patients through primary diagnoses and lab results for intervention and program enrollment to lower patient high-cost utilization.Support the development of provider and clinic quality-based scorecards and related reporting needs to improve overall performance.Create reports through the EHR to optimize and improve multiple clinic patient outreach campaigns and appointment scheduling.Partner and support population health program leaders and initiatives such as patient experience to target and improve key metrics across all Ambulatory clinics.Liaison and advisor between new external partners and internal data teams to provide data validation and analysis in support of system development.Perform analysis on large datasets to determine data quality and integrity.Monitor external portals (claims based) and provide direction and recommendations to vendors in continued portal development for access to appropriate clinical data.Manage multiple, variable tasks and data review processes under direct supervision within targeted timelines and thrive in a demanding, quickly changing environment.Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as required.Required Education and ExperienceBachelors Degree in Nursing (MO/KS RN required), Healthcare Administration, or related healthcare field experience in a healthcare setting with two (2) years clinical exposure.High School GraduateLess than 1 year experience in health care.Less than 1 year experience in developing applications and programs.Less than 1 year experience with basic quality improvement processes.Less than 1 year experience with system integration and database/data object relationship design.Knowledge RequirementsSuperior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Highly skilled use of Microsoft Office products (Exchange, Access, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio, etc.), project management tools, databases, system technology and databases.Demonstrated experience in complex problem solving and operational analysis.Demonstrated success in facilitating team action plans toward goals, managing multiple deadlines and key milestone dates, creating tactical plans to accomplish multiple aligned and coordinated tasks that achieve project objectives and fort using and learning new technology.Critical thinker with proven analytical skills.Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs/timelines without loss of momentum.Strong customer service skills.Builds rapport quickly and effectively cross-functionally.Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a semi-structured environment.Supports and maintains patient confidentiality and privacy.Engage in professional development opportunities.
