The Activity Therapist develops and adheres to unit schedules to provide daily group and individual activities based on sensory, art therapy, music therapy or other generally accepted modalities. Schedules, trains and oversees the implementation of group curriculum by other disciplines working on the units. Provides feedback to other disciplines as needed to meet the goals of the group topics and activities utilized. Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients and is responsible for the overall provision and maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the behavioral health unit. Meets individually with assigned patients and facilitates group intervention. Documents on patient activities as well as interactions with patients. Backs up Mental Health Workers when needed.
