BlueHalo is in immediate need of motivated student researchers to perform hands-on lab tasks in support of research initiatives in the Biological Materials and Processes Research Team at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. Alongside experts in their fields, successful applicants will be immersed into a world class research laboratory where they can learn valuable research and professional skills from experts who are committed to mentorship.Successful applicants will be interested and equipped to support multidisciplinary research seeking to develop new biomaterials for infrastructure development, such as biocement based on microbially-induced calcite precipitation. This position has flexible work hours; 10 hours/week minimum during the school year and up to 40 hours/week during the summer. Applicants should provide a resume and a cover letter that describes their interest and availability.Use a variety of scientific and engineering techniques to perform experiments addressing research questions related to multiple disciplines.Follow written protocol instructions for the formation and testing of biomaterials.Record organized notes of standard operating procedures, test protocols, and experimental results.Communicate results clearly and thoroughly in regular formal and informal presentations.Current enrollment in an undergraduate STEM program focused on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, biology, chemistry, materials, or a related field.A driven interest in STEM fields, especially through previous and planned course work.A willingness to learn new techniques and conduct experiments on a multidisciplinary team.Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow directions.Experience working with laboratory chemicals is a plus.Related laboratory or research experience is a plus.This position is working within a government facility and requires US citizenship.NoneBlueHalo is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
