LMI is seeking an Acquisition Systems Engineer with Agile experience to support a federal program management office (PMO) charged with planning, acquiring, and managing the deployment and operation of technology and capabilities to keep our borders safe. We are seeking energetic self-starters who are focused on practical and efficient solutions delivered by an interdisciplinary, collaborative team. These individuals will provide full-time support to the client’s program management office, located in Washington, D.C. Work can be performed remotely. Founded in 1961 to help the Department of Defense resolve complex logistics management challenges, LMI continues to enable growth and transformation, enhance operational readiness and resiliency, and ensure mission success for federal civilian and defense agencies.This individual will work with other engineers and subject matter experts to support the client’s program management office (PMO), which is responsible for developing programs of records (POR) and the acquisition and deployment of technologies and systems to protect the nation’s borders. From program planning and market research to trade studies, requirements definition, engineering analysis, decision support, and program execution assistance, this individual will apply sound systems engineering principles and ensure that DHS and CBP directives, policies, and processes are followed, and the client’s objectives are met.Specific responsibilities may include:Providing full lifecycle systems engineering support to programs and projects, ushering programs through their acquisition lifecycle from Program of Record (PoR) establishment to program awards, deployment, operation, and sustainmentLeading or supporting the development of engineering and project plans including but not limited to the following:Supporting the development and documentation preparation of engineering plans and artifacts including:Systems Engineering Plans (SEP)Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) Tailoring PlansFunctional Requirements Documents (FRD)Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)Responsible for supporting the Product Owner in defining user stories to streamline the execution of program priorities and gather, manage, and prioritize the product backlogEnsuring user stories are ready for development to start work and that each user story has the correct acceptance criteriaProviding vision and direction to the Product Owner and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirementsPlanning and prioritizing product feature backlog and development for the product.Providing backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user storiesProviding technical support including assessments and briefings in support of SELC technical gate reviewsParticipating in IPTs and Systems Engineering work groupsPerforming trade studies and other technical investigations as requiredParticipating in program-level review boards, including engineering, configuration, risk, and test review boardsSupporting or leading the planning, execution, data collection, evaluation, and assessment of system acceptance tests, technical demonstrations, and other technology and/or systems evaluation effortsAssessing contractor deliverables against requirementsMaintaining comprehensive awareness of the programs and contract’s progress with respect to cost, schedule, and performance as an enabler to informed decision makingFunctional and data requirements analysis documentation preparationSENIOR LEVEL: 10+ years of relevant experience and a MS degree in systems engineering or a related discipline. 14 years relevant experience plus a STEM BS degree or 18 total years' relevant experience can be equivalent.MID LEVEL:3-10 years’ experience and a BS or MS degree in systems engineering or a related disciplineIn-depth knowledge of Agile process and principlesDemonstrated ability to work within a highly functioning systems engineering team and develop/execute complex tasksExperience in providing engineering support to large, complex programsExperience with the full Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) and its processes and practicesFamiliar with DHS or DoD acquisition life cycle frameworkExperience in developing engineering and project plansOutstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skillsSelf-motivated, proactive, independent performer who can perform well in a collaborative, team environmentAll positions require eligibility to acquire CBP BI, for which you must be a U.S Citizen.Highly Preferred: Active U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI.This position is contingent upon completion of CBP BI and customer approval/funding
