What R & D Model Shop Machinist contributes to Cardinal Health Research and Development Model Shop Machinist is responsible for designing and developing prototype tooling for new products including building plastic injection molds and product test fixtures.ResponsibilitiesApplies working knowledge of machine shop and injection molding techniques to build and develop prototype toolingSupport projects for multiple departments in the R&D functionProvide effective and timely job scheduling information to extended team members within the R&D function. Identify and inform project teams of short- and long-term resource constraints.Creative Problem Solver - identify technical solutions for rapid prototyping and product development challenges.Provide effective technical input that makes design concepts more manufacturable.QualificationsAssociate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Machine Shop preferred.2+ years of related professional work experience preferredExperience designing/fabricating plastic injection mold toolingGood verbal and written communication skillsDeveloped problem solving, decision making, and communication skills with a potential for leadershipSolidWorks or other CAD experience desiredWhat is expected of you and others at this levelApplies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasksDemonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibilitymaintains appropriate licenses, training and certificationsWorks on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issuesMay assist in recommendation of processes on new assignmentsAdheres to all quality guidelinesWorks with limited supervision.
