Applying knowledge of engineering principles to design products including involvement in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of material handling system components. The material handling systems include power & free conveyors (P&F), skid conveyors, electrified monorail systems (EMS), friction drive systems (FDS), skillet conveyors, slat chain conveyors, vertical drop lifts (VDLs), automatic storage/retrieval systems (ASRS), fork/robot transfers, automatic guided carts (AGCs).Engineering assignments related to electrical control system detailing using a CAD systemWiring diagrams, control panels, and electrical device layoutsPLC programming for material handling systemsHMI designing for material handling systemsPerform calculations related to control panel design including power distributionPerform calculations related to validating cycle time and safe distance calculationsAssist in commissioning PLC logic and HMI screens in shop trials and field environmentAssist in debugging field wiring issues with electriciansMust be able to climb ladders and scaffoldings and be physically capable of sitting, standing and/or walking for long periods of timeCommunicate with customers, vendors and departments as neededPerform other tasks as assignedQualificationsKnowledge of AutoCAD 2D software is required, AutoCAD 3D software or similar is a plusKnowledge of industrial control systemsExperience with PLC programming (ControlLogix, Mitsubishi, Omron, GE, Siemens…)Experience with HMI screen design such as GE, Panelview, PROFACE…Knowledge of electrical wiring troubleshootingKnowledge of electrical standards (National Electric Code, ANSI, OSHA) is a plusFamiliar with electrical codes including NEC, NFPA 79, and UL 508A is a plusDemonstrated PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Works precisely and pays close attention to detailsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environmentA certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsGood mechanical aptitude and knowledgeExperience with material handling equipment preferredMust be available to work weekends, nights, overtime, and holidays, as neededAbility to travel to Project Sites as required (including international travel to Canada and Mexico)Education and ExperienceBS in Electrical Engineering preferred0-3 years experience in Electrical Engineering & Designing Daifuku offers an excellent compensation package including great benefits such as excellent medical, vision, and dental insurance, paid vacation time, paid sick time, and paid holidays, 401K, Flexible Spending Programs, and more.Daifuku is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
