Permanent Full Time Position2nd Shift 3:30 pm to Midnight$20to $25 per hourProduction Supervisor - Packaging ServiceNesco Resource is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor for a client in Elmira, NY. Thisdirect hireopportunity involves leading the packaging department to ensure efficient operations, quality, productivity, safety, and scheduling. You will oversee task assignments, employee training, and problem-solving while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Additionally, you will coordinate with other shifts and departments, handle special projects, and support the 'Best Team' program.Summary:The Production Supervisor - Packaging Services is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the packaging department, with a focus on quality, productivity, safety, and adherence to scheduling requirements. This role involves supervising staff, managing production processes, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Staff Management: Assign employees to specific machines and tasks to meet production schedules efficiently. Training and Development: Provide training on department procedures, machine operation, and other relevant tasks to ensure team competency and efficiency. Safety Oversight: Maintain a safe work environment, implementing measures to prevent injuries and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Safety Training: Train employees in safe work practices and procedures, promoting a culture of safety. Disciplinary Actions: Handle minor disciplinary issues and escalate significant concerns to the Plant Manager. Recruitment Support: Evaluate and recommend candidates for job openings, participating in the selection process to build a skilled team. Coordination: Coordinate production activities with other shifts and departments to ensure seamless operations. Problem-Solving: Assist employees with production and machine-related issues, providing guidance and support to resolve problems. Operational Duties: Perform Clean Lines, Start-up Checklists, and Pre-job orientations to ensure readiness and compliance. Occasional Operations: Operate machinery, trucks, or perform other production tasks on an occasional or fill-in basis as needed. Special Projects: Undertake special assignments requiring technical expertise or experience as requested by the Plant Manager. Team Support: Support and encourage participation in the 'Best Team' program, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Work Environment: Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly production area to ensure a productive and safe work setting. SOP Compliance: Ensure that all employees adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times. Qualifications: Proven experience in a supervisory role within a production or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of production processes, safety regulations, and scheduling requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform occasional machine operations and production tasks. Experience in training and developing staff.Working Conditions: The role involves working in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery and industrial conditions.
