They collaborate with program managers, administrative staff, and the Syracuse City School District to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum.The Teacher Will:Plan and delivers engaging lessons, Foster a safe and healthy learning environment, and actively engages with students to support their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Work closely with families, building positive relationships and ensuring open communication. With a focus on meeting the needs of all children, the Universal Pre-K Teacher contributes to the overall success and positive outcomes of the preschool program.** This is an ON-CALL Position*Starting Pay For This Position Is: $20.00 to 25.00/ HourEducation and/or Experience Required at Entry:Teacher: New York State (NYS) Teaching Certification: Applicants for the Universal Pre-K Teacher position must hold a valid NYS Teaching Certification. Preferably, the certification should be in Early Childhood Education.Teacher Assistant: A two-year degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.High School Diploma or equivalent required.Candidates should have at least one year of experience working with children and families, demonstrating their understanding of child development and the dynamics of family engagement. Prior experience in early childhood teaching is preferred.Licenses/Certificates/Clearances:Background check: Candidates will undergo a background check to ensure the safety and security of the students and the educational environment.NYS registry clearance: A clearance from the NYS registry is required to verify the candidate's eligibility to work with children in an educational setting.Skills/Abilities:Computer skills: Proficiency in using computer applications and technology is necessary for administrative tasks, lesson planning, and incorporating technology into the learning environment.Good interpersonal and communication skills: Effective communication and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues are essential for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.Ability to work in a team environment: Collaboration with other teachers, support staff, and administrators is crucial for creating a cohesive and effective educational program.Classroom management: Strong classroom management skills are necessary to create a structured and organized learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth.Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults: The Universal Pre-K Teacher should possess the physical ability to interact with young children, including assisting with activities, supervising play, and providing support as needed.Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings: The position may require driving to client's homes or community facilities for meetings or events. It is important to be able to travel to these locations, even if they do not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.SCSD mandated trainings:The Syracuse City School District (SCSD) may have additional required trainings that are specific to their educational system.
