Because of the nature of Senior LIFE centers and the diverse needs of its members, responsibilities are wide-reaching and enable assistants to gain unparalleled experience in all aspects of OT-related elderly care, including:Assisting in the development of comprehensive, integrated treatment programs for membersExecuting select treatments in accordance with OT and interdisciplinary Plans of CareAssessing homebound members’ needs, including home visits, comprehensive evaluations and ongoing follow up, as neededTraining outside caregivers and family members as well as Senior LIFE staff members in relevant OT protocol OT procedures, surrounding their specific care plan responsibilitiesProviding ongoing training and support to members, members’ families and external caregivers for in-home participants, ensuring maximum independence and safety for those not at the centerDocumenting all member care, executed by the COTA or the OTR, and evaluating and updating care plans as necessaryMaintaining up-to-date records in Data Pace, ensuring all interdisciplinary team members can review and analyze, as neededCOTAs will be key to ensuring members’ success because of their direct work with those members as well as from the in-depth, high-value responsibilities tied to training and effectively communicating critical information with Senior LIFE and external caregivers. This role will be on the frontline of ensuring member success, and requires an articulate, dedicated, hardworking, and caring individual, who is passionate about helping the elderly. Besides proper certification, COTA applicants must have at least one year of experience working with this population, with the ability to demonstrate strong working knowledge during the interview process. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is also required.EOE
