SUMMARY:The Registered Dietitian/Assistant Manager provides nutrition support services such as menu analysis, menu crediting, recipe development/testing, and nutrition counseling at the Lexington School District ensuring compliance with Whitsons specifications and government regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES Develop menus and/or meal plans to meet NSLP and SBP guidelines Analyze menus and recipes for nutritional adequacy Ensure allergen, ingredient, and recipe information is accurate in all nutrition related software Maintain internal nutrition-related SOPs and manuals Attend Nutrition Meetings with School District and School Staff Assist Lexington School District in State AR Review Process Ensure menus, recipes and production records comply with nutritional guidelines during administrative reviews for school customers Work with the culinary team to ensure customer dietary needs are being accommodated and arrange for specially prepared meals, purchase of prepackaged foods or sourcing special requests when the daily menu offerings do not meet their needs Work on project teams with various departments as the nutrition Subject Matter ExpertInterdisplinary collaboration with school nurses to accurately document/update all student allergies and create modified meal plansUtilize Whitsons marketing materials and create unique marketing matrialsEnsure accuracy of cafeteria meal information and signage Complete applications to request food vendor information during bidding season Keep current about rules and regulations concerning school lunch for individual states and the USDA Maintain dietetic registration and continuing education requirementsAssist in the maintenance of systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving of food related products, as well as menu planning and development using Whitsons approved systems and policiesManages program within all budgetary guidelines established by GM, DM and WhitsonsAssist in the Motivation, training, and managing subordinate Team MembersAssists in determining the necessary tools for the team to perform at satisfactory levelAct as client liaison and Manager when GM is not on premisesMaintain a harmonious working relationship with Team by demonstrating consistent and equitable treatment for all Team Members consistently in accordance with Company policiesEnsures compliance with applicable health regulations and ordinances and that all schools are prepared for any state or local board of health inspectionDevelop and test recipes to ensure accuracy of measurements, instructions, quality, flavor, yield, nutrition information, and other specified criteriaPerform other incidental and/or related duties as required and/or assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIESEducation and Certification Bachelor0027s degree in dietetics, food science, or nutrition Registered Dietitian (RD) certifiedComputer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Proficient in menu analysis programs such as such as: Meal Tracker, Simple Serve, NutriKids, GenesisOther Qualifications and Experience 1-3 years experience in healthcare/schools/food manufacturing setting Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is a plus Proficient in various state and regulatory nutritional standards under the Dietary Guidelines for Americans for multiply age groups (infants to elderly), the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program under the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act and the USDA Able to handle multiple tasks in a changing work environmentWorks well under deadline focused conditions Excellent oral and written communication skills, passion for results and attention to detail Requires occasional travel using own transportation to client locations within and outside MA to accommodate field requestsCompetencies Analytical Thinking, Strong Communication and Presentation Skill, Customer FocusedPHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOBThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
