General SummaryThe BIM Manager's role is to understand and communicate how BIM will affect project workflows, deliverables and project management throughout Gibson. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement on all related BIM projects, files, and models, for both our Electrical and Telecommunications groups. This will include the development of a work planroadmap for the development, implementation, and quality assurance checks needed for full BIM integration with Gibson projects.Principal Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for developing and implementing BIM workflow and driving standard usage of BIM and Revit within and outside the firmOversee the use of BIMRevit software firm-wide, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all BIM installations as well as analyzing and solving BIM user issuesProvide end-user training, support and leadershipSupport each project team by (1) managing and creating content library files and templates, (2) creating and enforcing standards, and (3) evaluating project modelsSupport project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effective delivery of quality documents, and set-up each project, thereby ensuring that each one is set up correctly.Review and production of 2D and 3D electrical drawings for field installations and coordination with other sub-contractor tradesParticipates in coordination meetings to resolve clashes while maintaining budget, constructability, and NEC code requirementsProduces shop drawings, cross-sections of underground, conduits and cables and other electrical systems as required for instructions to fabrication and installation crewReads architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical floor plans, sections and elevationsConfers with engineer of record and project management staff to resolve problems and explaining drawings to production or construction teams and providing adjustments as necessaryTravel to various project sites as requiredPerform other duties as requiredComply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programsQUALIFICATIONSIn-depth understanding of electricaltelecom systems for largecomplex construction projects.• Advanced knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam ACCBIM 360.• Ability to produce BIM deliverables including 3D modeling, 2D installationprefabrication drawings, and Total Station point layout files in line with VC Standards.• Possesses the necessary communication skills, adaptability, and temperament to consistently meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining healthy working relationships.EDUCATION andor EXPERIENCEThe successful BIMVDC Manager will either have previous experience as a Senior BIM Coordinator OR have related experience as an engineer, technical designer, or construction manager.High School Diploma or GED required.Minimum of 5+ years of experience in modeling, design, drafting or engineeringRevit andor other Autodesk software certification preferred.Understanding of all facets of construction blueprints, and specificationsProficient in 3D coordination with other tradesProficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookREQUIRED ATTRIBUTESThe requirements listed below are representative of characteristics and demonstrated capabilities sought to perform this job successfully.Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, and professionalism.Must possess strong problem solving and negotiation skills which enhance teambuilding (as opposed to alienating team members)Effectively communicates and interacts with all levels of construction site personnel which includes but is not limited to: Project Managers, Foreman, General Foremen, General Contractors, skilled trades as well as Engineers, Architects and sub-contractors, and suppliers. This requires the ability to work at different locations, which may include driving between multiple work sites during the day or week. Construction site setting may require working in tunnels, roofs or catwalks.LANGUAGE SKILLSMust have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands of this position must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for an extended period of time, frequently stand, and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.Specific vision abilities required by this job include viewing computer monitors. Some duties in this position are performed under periodically disagreeable working conditions of a jobsite including working outside at times in inclement weather, and exposure to water, dust, dirt, grease, paint fumes, chemicals, and equipment noise and vibration.
