Under the direction of Underwriting, the Life Sciences Trainee supports the underwriting team in assessing risks and determining coverage for life science companies. This entry-level role provides a comprehensive introduction to the property and casualty underwriting field within the life sciences sector. You will gain hands-on experience, receive training, and develop skills essential for a successful underwriting career. The candidate will attend the WRB Trainee school held in Westbrook, Maine. Risk Assessment: Assist in evaluating risks associated with life science companies, including laboratories, pharmaceutical firms, and medical device manufacturers.Underwriting Support: Aid in the preparation of underwriting documentation and reports. Review and analyze risk information to support underwriting decisions.Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to policies, claims, and industry trends to assist in underwriting processes.Client Interaction: Support the team in communicating with clients and brokers to gather necessary information and address queries.Compliance: Ensure that all underwriting practices comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.Training and Development: Participate in training programs to build expertise in life science property and casualty underwriting. Much of this training is held in Westbrook, Maine.Qualifications/ExperienceBachelor’s degree Knowledgeable and proficient with the Microsoft Professional products in addition to Internet search capabilitiesExceptional oral and written communication skills.
