Purpose of PositionThe Manager, Leave of Absence will be responsible for leading a team of leave specialists whose primary function will be to administer and process leaves while providing best-in-class service to employees through their leave of absence journey. Thorough knowledge of leave management, including the administration, processes and procedures of FMLA, USERRA, ADA, is required. Tasks and Responsibilities Provide overall direction and support for your team to ensure team goals are being met Develop and train your team on all aspects of leave management Serve as the primary subject matter expert for your team and the central point of contact for all leave of absence related escalations Monitor daily activities of Leave Specialists to ensure desired productivity and service goals are met Administer case management for leave requests that require involved interpretation of eligibility and applicable collective bargaining agreements EducationBachelor's in Human ResourcesCertifications and LicensesYears of Experience4-6 years of experienceCore CompetenciesAdaptabilityCollaborationCuriosityService-OrientedStrives For Positive ResultsKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)To be successful in this role, you must be able to motivate your team in a high-paced, high-volume setting while maintaining a working environment conducive to positive morale and teamwork. You should also be able to interact with people at all levels effectively and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Manages the leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes ensuring all required paperwork has been completed, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use. Recognizes the need and assists in facilitating accommodation requests under the ADA. Advises managers and employees on the interaction of the various leave entitlements and the ADA. Interprets, administers and ensures compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, human resources policies and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreements. Proposes, formulates and implements policies and operational procedures, including changes that streamline human resources systems and take advantage of technology. Communicates with Human Resources Business Partners, business leadership, Union partner representatives and other stakeholders to ensure cooperative relationships. Analyzes and resolves problem situations and takes or recommends timely and appropriate action. Plans workflow, determines priorities and supervises the work of a specialized service delivery team.
