**This position requires an activeSecret clearance or the ability to obtain aSecretclearance to be considered. ***Mid-Level ABSL Laboratory Technician - Frederick, MDPosition OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mid-Level Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical support in ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 laboratories, assisting with animal studies, immunological assays, and laboratory maintenance. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our research projects and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in ABSL-2 or ABSL-3 environments.Experience with animal handling and laboratory animal science.Proficiency in immunological assays such as ELISpot, ELISA, and Luminex.Expertise in animal handling and care.Proficient in immunological assay techniques.Knowledge of IACUC protocols and laboratory safety regulations.Ability to perform precise and accurate laboratory procedures.Strong organizational and inventory management skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.CS-PRP and BPRP enrollment eligibility and maintenance as per contract requirements.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Animal Manipulations: Perform animal manipulations in support of animal studies in ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 environments.Animal Care: Participate in animal studies by preparing and administering antibiotics, vaccines, immunomodulators, and monoclonal antibodies through various methods (oral, intraperitoneal, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous). Conduct animal health exams, collect fluid and tissue samples, and ensure compliance with IACUC-approved protocols.Lab Meetings: Participate in weekly lab meetings, assist in the development and design of current and future in vitro and in vivo work, and may present posters at scientific conferences.Immunological Studies: Participate in BSL-2 and BSL-3 immunological studies, performing ELISpot, ELISA, Luminex assays, and other protocols as needed.Media and Reagent Preparation: Complete media and reagent preparations.Animal Challenges: Assist with animal challenges and prepare bacterial challenge preparations.Injections and Observations: Perform animal injections and observations.Bacterial Burdens: Complete bacterial burden assessments in organ tissue.Necropsies: Perform animal necropsies.Supply Orders: Place orders for supplies and equipment.Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratories in BSL-2 and BSL-3 environments.Inventory Management: Perform or assist with BSAT inventory management and equipment inventory management.Monthly Laboratory Management: Conduct monthly laboratory management, including safety functions and chemical inventory.Compliance: Maintain CS-PRP and BPRP enrollment status in accordance with contract provisions and applicable regulations.
