ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB is seeking a Traffic Designer to join our growing Transportation Systems Group in New England. Project work will primarily focus on planning, design and construction support of temporary traffic control, construction phasing, smart work zone design and implementation in accordance with MUTCD and AASHTO design guidelines. Additional work may include supporting traffic signal design and transportation planning support. ResponsibilitiesDevelopment of simple-to-complex Temporary Traffic Control Plans (TTCP), including traditional and smart work zones and construction phase service planning for state, municipal and private clients.Development of Construction Phasing Design Plans detailing traffic staging for multi-year, multi-stage construction projects.Work within a team of professionals to draft plans, calculation book, estimates and specifications for a variety of transportation projects.Writing technical reports and memoranda.Perform engineering field work as needed.Mentorship of junior staffSkills and AttributesAutoCAD experience required.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Attention to detail.Excel in working in a team environment.Ability to read and comprehend design and construction specifications and plans preferred.Ability/willingness to work outdoors on occasion on highway job sites and uneven terrain.Technical Report Writing experience preferred.QualificationsBS in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation Engineering 3-5 years of professional experience Interest in working across multiple engineering disciplines concurrently with a diversity of assignments.Experience developing civil design and construction documents - preference given for MassDOT and other state DOT experience.EIT preferred.Valid driver’s licenseWe are VHB!We’re an inspired and innovative team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.
