The microinjection specialist will report to the Director of the RGEL and will work within the scientific framework of the Core to serve its goals and in collaboration with principal investigators employing the core. At least four years of experience in the generation of genetically engineered mice: specific ES cell injections into mouse blastocysts.Job Responsibilities:Conducts routine and standardized experiments using advanced research techniques specific to subject matter of the research projectMicroinjection of gene-targeted mouse ES cells to produce mouse chimeras for the establishment of novel mouse linesConducts embryo transfer surgeries to return injected blastocysts to the reproductive tract of host female miceAnimal husbandry necessary for the performance of other duties listed above, such as routine monitoring of mice and changing of cages with pregnant and lactating mice, hormone injections to superovulate donor female mice, hormone preparations, maintenance of specific equipment used in the CoreWeekend work will be requiredAll duties listed above to be performed in as independent a manner as possible, with minimal supervision of the Director of the core.Serve as a role model confronting racist, sexist, or other inappropriate actions by speaking up, challenging exclusionary organizational practices, and standing side-by-side in support of colleagues who experience discriminationPerform other duties as munications/Relationships with othersExcellent organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.Ability to work independently is a key to success in this position.Provides guidance, cooperates, communicates and relates well to all levels of NYU Langone Health municates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner.Judgement/Decision-MakingIs able to recognize problems as they occur; and through the application of appropriate policy/ procedure, determines and/or recommends the appropriate solution.Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties; asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to ensure accuracy.Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or follow-up attention.Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a MS degree with at least 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.NYU Grossman School of Medicine provides its staff with far more than just a place to work. The salary range for the role is $52,649.99 - $77,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
