COMPANY OVERVIEWWelsbach Electric Corp. (Welsbach) is one of the largest commercial electrical contractors in New York City. We specialize in outdoor electrical construction and maintenance for government agencies, utilities, and private enterprises. Our headquarters are located in Queens, NY, where we maintain an extensive in-house inventory of materials, tools, and a fleet in order to provide prompt electrical maintenance services.Our field force consists of highly qualified IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) journeymen electricians and linemen. These employees are supported by experienced project management, estimating, engineering, accounting, and administrative personnel, who together make us one of the leading New York City electrical contracting companies.SUMMARYThe Director of Safety and Quality Control will be accountable for creating a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment and will facilitate and support the companies project quality control programESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Develop and Maintain company's current Environmental, Health and Safety policies and implement new risk control measures as neededPrepare and implement JHAs, SWPs and CWPsAct as safety advisor to Project Managers and Superintendents on each project and provide technical support for all EHS requirementsDirect jobsite EHS activities as required by our Company, OSHA and Industry standardsIdentify, control, and eliminate hazardous site conditions that may lead to worker injury or property damageOversee andor perform regular project walk throughs and provide Observations and corrective action reporting thru company's online project management applicationEnsure subcontractor EHS policies, JHA's and pre-installation safety requirements are met for trades prior to their on-site activityEnsure that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are metProvide monthly reporting to company Management TeamAuditManage Corporate Safety PolicyPerform Root Cause Analysis of incidents and prepare implement prevention plansOversee Fleet (Vehicle) SafetyDevelop and Oversee Quality assurance and quality control for company projectsPREFERRED EDUCATION andor EXPERIENCEDegree or Certification in safety management or relevant field is preferredMinimum 5 yrs of experience in a professional safety role; proven successful experience as a safety manager preferredAssociateCertified Safety Professional (ASPCSP) Preferred but not requiredOSHA 500 certification preferredExperience writing Health And Safety Plans (HASP's) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).Deep understanding of occupational health and safety guidelinesregulationsIn-depth knowledge of the construction industry, federal, state, and city environmental and safety regulations and practices.Ability to do public speaking, for safety training purposes.Must have a valid driver's license, in good standing.Experience in managing quality control program a PUTER SKILLSMust demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).Working knowledge of project document control software a plus.REQUIRED ATTRIBUTESThe requirements listed below are representative of characteristics and demonstrated capabilities sought to perform this job successfully.Ability to draft accurate reports and develop policies applicable to legalindustry standardsGood knowledge of data analysis and risk assessmentExcellent organizational and motivational skillsOutstanding attention to detail and observation abilityExceptional communication and interpersonal abilities - especially public speakingMust have the ability to make quick yet sound decisions.Must build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, suppliers, and customers.Must demonstrate commitment to company values.LANGUAGE SKILLSMust have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
