Together, we keep getting better - advancing our mission to transform healthcare and serve as a leader of positive change.The Teacher is responsible for the physical, emotional and developmental care and safety of the children enrolled in the CCLC, as well as for planning and executing an educational program in accordance with the CCLC's philosophy and goals.A day in the life of a Teacher at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:1. Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn.2. Implement the Creative Curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child.3. Provides for the safety of children which includes knowing the number of children present and their location.4. Maintaining a safe, healthy, clean and organized classroom environment.5. Partner and communicate with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children.6. Interacting with the children to support play, exploration and learning.7. Fostering of teamwork.8. Maintains written records including, but not limited to, attendance, developmental and anecdotal.9. Oversees assistants, aides, students, and volunteers who assist in the classroom.10. Prepares and reviews performance evaluation for assistant after consulting with head teacher.11. Prepares for and conducts parent conferences.12. Assesses outdoor and indoor areas with regard to safety and appropriateness for group.13. Supports both CCLC and HUMC policies, procedures and standards.14. Prepares and submits weekly written outline of planned activities.15. Participation in mandatory staff meetings and completes annual training requirements.16. Cultivate positive relationships with families, team members and community contacts.17. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.18. Identifies the needs of the population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:1. Associate's degree in early childhood education, or Child Development Associate (CDA) or group teacher approval from DCF.2. 3 years experience teaching children under 5 years of age.3. Must be able to use a computer with basic proficiency.4. Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing with students, staff, administrators and communityEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:1. Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.Working Conditions:Lifts a minimum of 15 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 20 lbs. and stands a minimum of 3 hours a day.
