The Whitney is partnering with New York City graduate schools to invite students in art, art education, or museum education to facilitate art-making programs across the Education Department's Social Impact division. Candidates participating in Youth Insights (YI) Leaders or the Whitney Internship are also eligible.Bilingual Social Impact Programs Facilitators will primarily work in our weekend Family Program: Open Studio and during Second Sundays, the Whitney's free admission initiative for intergenerational audiences; they will also facilitate art-making programs for community partners, teens, schools, and access programs, as needed.Bilingual Social Impact Programs Facilitators will work with Whitney staff to learn about inquiry-based teaching strategies and art-making techniques. They will explore methods in different media and learn how to connect works of art on view at the Museum with studio projects.Facilitators will be paid $25 an hour and are required to work at least 6-8 hours every two weeks.Responsibilities:Facilitating hands-on art projects designed by the Associate Manager of Family Programs and Intergenerational Initiatives for families with kids of all ages in English and SpanishCreating a welcoming environment for families participating in Open Studio and Artmaking activities during Second SundaysWorking with and communicating effectively with Youth Insights Teen LeadersFacilitating art-making projects for the community, teens, schools, and access audiences, as needed.Setting up and cleaning before and after programsAttend monthly training meetings and work closely with museum staff to learn about new projects and discuss teaching strategiesCompleting necessary independent research and reading materials given by the Education StaffProviding written reflections after programsWorking collaboratively and communicating effectively with Social Impact StaffWorking at large-scale events for Social Impact audiencesSupporting preparation for Social Impact programs, as neededRequirements:Fluency in Spanish is preferredCandidates participating in a Youth Insights Teen Program or Whitney Internship are also eligible.
