Financial Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis A Brief Overview Performs financial review and analysis to support organization's decisions regarding clinical, operational and financial matters. Responsible for collecting, preparing and analyzing clinical, operating, financial and accounting data to develop, maintain and present various financial and statistical analyses for management and to assist controller with monthly and annual closing of books. This role requires a deep understanding of data mining and data manipulation with advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and Excel modeling. What you will do t Develops various statistical and financial analyses and interpretation of healthcare data, utilizing data and other information from internal database management programs and systems as well as spreadsheets and database management tools. Prepares/analyzes financial information regarding current operations. Supports clinical and operational management teams in understanding financial position for decision-making purposes via the development of comprehensive reports. Prepares business plans for new and existing business as required. Assists in the development of pro formas for new ventures, new equipment and other new programs. Coordinates the gathering of specific information from Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Managed Care, Human Resources and other departments involved in the development of financial reports and analyses. Prepares financial feasibility, cost/benefit, profitability and administrative/planning analysis and reports. Develops various lease/purchases analyses, as well as comparative analysis of various debt options. Evaluates and analyzes all sources of financial and other data used in forecasts or reports and documents. t Helps lead business owners and finance team in the development of the budget for assigned areas of responsibility by gathering and analyzing departmental information and other data to support budgetary decisions. Also analyzes data, identifies variances and provides reports and insights to support management's review and understanding of any key variances. t Prepares, maintains and distributes required monthly, quarterly and annual reports including financial/statistical performance indicators, productivity and other key measurements. Maintains reports, records and files for administrative and compliance purposes. t Performs external reporting and related analyses for the organization to applicable sources. t Assists in the maintenance and update of the charge master. Conduct rate reviews including analysis of patient charges to maximize revenues. t Provides analytical support for special projects and studies to support strategic decision-making and provide insights into financial performance, including collecting and compiling data, performing statistical analysis, pro forma modeling and any follow-ups as requested or needed. t Answers inquiries and communicates effectively with hospital staff, external agencies, and auditors to coordinate activities, obtain information and financial reporting. t Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Responds to problems/opportunities to improve work environment and participates in unit based performance improvement activities. t Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
