USD $45,000.00 - USD $55,000.00 /Yr.This position is with the Student Health and Counseling Center at Clarkson University where the counselor will work as part of a dedicated team of health and counseling providers to promote physical and mental health with the student population. The counselor will handle a caseload for individual and/or group counseling, as well as interface with academic, student life, and the community as an advocate for students' well-being. This is a 10 month position.Provides individual group and couples counselingProvides crisis interventionProvides after-hours, on-call support as scheduledConducts clinical and psychological assessmentMaintains a working knowledge of DSM criteria, recommended therapeutic interventions, and refer for psychopharmacological evaluationProvides consultation servicesProvides referrals to students for on and off campus needsProvides outreach services and presentationsCreates original presentations and workshops as assignedDemonstrate ability to make clinical and ethical decisions in a team-based environmentServes as liaison or committee member in designated areaMay serve as a coordinator of outreach, groups or other area as assignedProvides case management services as assignedParticipates in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations as assignedMaintains timely and accurate clinical documentation and scheduling in electronic health records systemOperate in a professional manner as regulated by Federal law, New York State law and professional and ethical guidelines of mental health professionalsAssists with other projects, administrative duties and initiatives as assignedPerformance of the above duties require you to be at workEducation:Minimal Qualifications:Minimum of a master degree in mental health counseling related field, or PhD/PsyD in clinical psychologyLicensed or license eligible in the state of New York to practice mental health counselingPreferred Qualifications:certification or significant training, and experience treating, trauma, eating disorders, and/or neurodiverse populations (ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, etc)experience and/or significant training serving BIPOC, AAPI, and/or the LGBTQ+ communitiesexperience and/or significant training providing substance disorder treatmentExperience:Minimal Qualifications:Experience/interest in working as part of an integrated health teamPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience working with college/university students in a counseling settingExperience with short term therapy modelsExperience providing case management servicesExperience in crisis interventionExperience in group counseling modalitiesThe Counselor I position requires a clinician to work independently with strong clinical skillsThis position will also need to be able to build and foster collaborative relationships across the campusCreativity in problem solvingThe ability to handle a flexible workflow and need to meet rapidly rising demand is also necessaryKeen multi-tasking, time management and planning skillsAbility to defuse an emotional or tense situation and offer viable solutionsDemonstrated ability to process and maintain highly confidential informationDemonstrated commitment to Diversity and InclusionAble to develop, coordinate, and participate in outreach activities and special projects as assignedCompetency working with a diverse array of students, and with a variety of presenting diagnosis / needsStrong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to adequately maintain documentation in an electronic records systemThe physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
