USD $45,000.00 - USD $50,000.00 /Yr.Working with the CoE Director, provide support to the CoE Director and to CoE faculty by carrying out the development and coordination of industrial interactions, supervise planning and marketing of CoE programs, take responsibility for stewarding company-CoE relationships, and assist with reporting activities to/from NY State.Relationship and Research Collaboration: Initiation, Development and CultivationIdentify and direct new partnerships, existing partnershipsCorporate research from websites, publications, public databasesInitial identification of contact and outreach to the companySchedule explorative meetings for companies (state-wide and national)Assist the Director with planning and subsequent implementation of processes and activities that will build close relationships with key stakeholdersSupervise marketing effortsReview lapsed relationships, rate potential and come up with a strategy to reviveIdentify expertise on campus to address corporate needs that come up with new and existing corporate partnersSteward the process from initial explorative meeting to working through contractual negotiations until successfully establish the partnershipDirect and oversee the progress of the relationships by monitoring the progress on projects or project negotiationsPrepare the path for renewal of contracts and continuation of projectsSteward and advise the company to prepare for maximum economic impact reportingKnowledge acquisition and strengthening of internal relationships such as faculty and partnering departmentsFollow faculty research development and acquire understanding of research to facilitate corporate relationshipsMeet with professors on their researchAttend seminars on Clarkson researchRead papers where necessary for additional informationKeep up-to-date on accolades and news on professors and student workMaintain contact and communications with departments that support and promote corporate engagement and who are natural partners to the Center such as Department of Research,Shipley Center, Career Center, School of BusinessStrengthen relationships with external non-corporate partnersMaintain relationship with ESD/NYSTAR representatives by attending events and meetings where they are represented or presentDevelop and cultivate relationships with counterparts or directors of other CATs, COEs, MEPsCultivate a relationship with Fuzehub and CITEC as they are ideal partners for expanding corporate engagementProvide Support for NYSTAR ReportingAlert companies for reporting requirements and cyclesInitiate timely solicitation of reports annual reportSupport companies during the process of drafting and finalizing the support lettersFollow industry innovation and state of the art reports on technological advances in the fields relevant to the CoERepresent CoE at external and internal meetingsDevelop and promote interest among industry to attend and participate at the annual CoE Technical Meeting and Joint CAT MeetingMinimal Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering, or the equivalent from a combination of education and experience.Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in science or engineering.Minimal Experience: Technical knowledge in advanced materials as evidenced 5+ years working in advanced materials field in either academic or industrial settings.Preferred Experience: Knowledge in advanced materials as evidenced by 10+ years working in technical development of advanced materials and evidence of stewardship of industry-university relationships.Growing record of accomplishments in research and development and/or technical marketing, and possess excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Frequent travel within New York State and to marketing meetings elsewhere throughout the year will be required. A demonstrated ability in program management and raising extramural funding is desirable. The Business Development Manager must also have experience in dealing with multiple corporate and NY State organizations in technology andfund-raising areas.The physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
