The Tax Senior Manager has mastered the skills and requirements of the manager role and has been identified as possessing the pre-requisite skills to grow into a future partner/managing director or principal. The Senior Manager is developing greater leadership skills and continuously taking on greater responsibilities. The Senior Manager is building the capacity to assist the partners/managing directors in assuming overall responsibilities in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: engagement management & client service, sales, practice development, marketing, cross selling, discipline & industry expertise, external activities & networking, leadership, people development, and strategic business planning.Serves as a subject matter expert in discipline or industryDemonstrates excellence in most advanced technical skillsComplies with pronouncements of professional and other regulatory groups, and enlightens and teaches the impact of such pronouncements to all staff.Continues to develop industry expertise and stays abreast of industry news; contributes to staff development by sharing industry knowledgeRecognizes complex technical issues, reaches appropriate conclusions and applies authority to support conclusions.Participates in client related planning, where appropriateEffectively communicates all technical material to clients, verbally and in writingProficient in use of necessary discipline software and applications.Demonstrates excellence in client service and business acumenEnsures top quality client service and oversees total engagement activityRecognizes needs and issues pertinent to client activity and follows through to implementation.Maintains designated chargeable hours for the year (determined by Geography & Discipline leaders)Maintains effective realization rates of fees (determined by Geography & Discipline leaders)Assists partners/managing directors in managing effective billing and collectionsAppropriately manages risk and ensures quality control procedures are being executed on all engagement activitiesEnsures efficient and profitable execution of engagement financial managementAssists partners/managing directors in planning business strategies in discipline or industryBuilds client relationships; maintains smooth working relationship with clients and solicits client input on satisfactionGenerates new business annually, from new & existing clients (determined by Geography, Discipline and Industry leaders)Solicits internal experts from across the Firm to assist in marketing & selling firm services to existing clientsIs actively involved in community, social, business and professional organizations, to generate referral sourcesIs actively involved in product development and product sales that will enhance market opportunities to generate revenue (determined by Discipline and Industry leaders)Proactively identifies opportunities to introduce Firm and serves as an active spokespersonRepresents the firm and area of expertise by making presentations at third party events.Demonstrates excellence in Executive Presence, People Development, Leadership, and ProfessionalismParticipates in mentoring, training, recruiting, retention and team-building activitiesEffectively develops, supervises, trains, coaches, and mentors staffCompletes performance reviews constructively and timely, both written and oral, as well as provides ongoing feedback throughout the performance yearEffectively manages people with poise and professionalism during stressful times, especially during peak periods of client engagement and deadlinesPromotes the ideals, values, mission, and vision of the firm.Commands respect as a leader; acts like a role modelConducts self with the utmost professionalism and demonstrates respect towards othersRespects and embraces diversity; looks to build a One-Firm team spirit amongst staffMaintains appropriate compliance with all firm wide and local office policies and proceduresPromotes the most efficient operations of the Firm and supports compliance guidelines in managing othersAssists partners/managing directors in managing administrative activityEducationMinimum Bachelor’s degree:Bachelor’s in Accounting for Audit or TaxRelated Business Degree for ConsultingExperience8+ years in accountingPublic accounting preferredLicense / CertificationMust be a CPA for Audit; May need equivalent certification for other disciplines.Must maintain required CPE credits annuallyMay possibly have other industry or specialization certificationLegal / ComplianceMust complete firm wide Non-Compete, Non Solicitation agreements or similar applicable documentsMust complete acknowledgement of Corporate Policy and Compliance ManualMust complete acknowledgement of Employee Manual documentMust complete acknowledgement of Independence Guidelines and Ethical Standards documentGovernment engagements require applying for and receiving a security clearance from the United States government.
