Entity: Corporate Department: Penn DnA (Analytics and Strategy) Location: 3600 Civic Center Blvd. Hours: 8hr Days (Mostly Remote with some onsite requirements) Summary : The Lead Consultant, Claims & Market Data Analytics operates in targeted areas of Penn Medicine as a trusted advisor at the intersection of data analysis, business intelligence, and strategic consulting. As a subject matter expert in market capture issues, you will help to develop PennDnA's market analytics strategy and capabilities to achieve critical organizational goals. The Lead Consultant will analyze and interpret provider, market, and population data to address critical questions. The Lead Consultant provides actionable insights based on complex models that drive decision-making within Penn Medicine and clarifies complex business issues by leveraging data. You will collaborate with leaders from across departments to understand their business objectives, refine data requests, provide actionable insights, and develop new data-driven strategies. The Lead Consultant will learn, develop, and demonstrate skills in hypothesis-based consulting, analytics, and storyboarding. As part of Strategic Decision Support (SDS) within the Data and Analytics (DnA) Center of Excellence, the Lead Consultant works on a team that aims to blend technical, clinical, and analytical skills to improve outcomes, optimize processes, and drive business growth. The Lead Consultant should demonstrate interest in exploring new ideas and the humility to collaborate often in that effort. The Lead Consultant will support Penn Medicine leaders and stakeholders on issues of broad importance to ensure timely, relevant analyses that align with business objectives. As such, they must be able to structure, execute, and communicate analytical findings to diverse audiences. Responsibilities : Consultation: Use knowledge of health care market issues and data analytics to collaborate with market strategy leaders, understand their strategic goals, refine data requests, and propose additional analyses to achieve business goals. Connect data insights with the organization's broader business strategies and provide recommendations for optimizing and prioritizing physician relationships, improving network integrity, and increasing market share. Insight Generation: Working with minimal supervision, conduct in-depth analyses of market data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations. Leverage data to answer questions about market share, utilization, physician loyalty, payer types, and more. Identify potential sources of market data. Assess their quality and relevance to key questions. Interpret data findings and translate them into actionable insights for a general business audience. Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate complex data findings to a variety of audiences, adapting messaging as needed. Explain strengths, weaknesses, and potential implications for decision-making. Client Deliverables: Drive multiple client deliverables by outcomes and deadlines, anticipating iterative nature of work with overlapping timeframes to completion. Anticipate and remove roadblocks to meet deadlines and deliver work products efficiently. Communicate progress and needs to stakeholders effectively and gracefully. Reporting: Develop and deliver clear, concise, and visually appealing reports and dashboards for communicating findings to leaders. Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency by implementing data validation and quality control processes. Contribute to the development of data management standards and policies. Collaboration & Mentorship: Build relationships with PennDnA and client stakeholders, including senior leaders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and develop solutions that align with organizational goals. Provide informal mentorship to other team members. Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging tools in market intelligence. Own continuous improvement for market analytics. Contribute to a culture of performance excellence. Other Highlights and Qualifications: Experience working with large, complex datasets, conducting data analyses, and generating insights. Hands on experience with claims datasets (e.g. 837 and 835), state data, and CMS data. Advanced expertise in using and manipulating claims datasets to identify patient pathways and determine market share and the ability to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations. Experience with market intelligence tools, such as Populi/Definitive Healthcare, Stratasan/Syntellis/Strata, Sg2 or Advisory Board. Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor of Arts or Science in Business, Statistics or a related field (Required) And 5+ years experience working with large, complex datasets, conducting data analyses, and generating insights.
