Summary: The Exercise Physiologist will perform patient and athlete health/fitness assessments, develop and periodically revise exercise prescriptions for athletes and patients with cardiopulmonary and metabolic disease, monitor patient/athlete progress, and document and analyze all aspects of exercise therapy efficacy. Strong interpersonal and educational skills required for patient and family education. Responsibilities: Develop exercise programs to improve participant's strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning, in accordance with exercise science standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation, and credentialing requirements Collaborate with Medical Director and Nurses to create and prescribe individualized exercise programs and modify as needed Evaluate new patients and interpret findings. Assess risk factors that contribute to cardiac diseases and help patient with modification plan to include diabetes management, HTN care, diet, exercise, depression, stress and smoking cessation Explain exercise program, physiological testing procedures and equipment/machines to patients Monitor BP, heart rate and rhythm, blood glucose during each exercise sessions Communicate patient progress to physician(s) including any abnormalities or concerns about patient status Analyze exercise program participant data to evaluate progress or identify needed program changes Conduct follow up visits and/or telephone calls with participants to monitor progress and compliance with exercise programs Perform continuous education regarding risk factor modification utilizing a holistic approach Maintain accurate records of exercises performed Minimum Requirements: CPR certification is required or must be obtained in the first month of employment. ACSM Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist. BLS/CPR required. ACLS required. Required: Bachelors Degree Exercise Physiology/Science, Kinesiology or related field by an accredited university or college and minimum experience in Cardiac Rehab or fitness setting or related field with cardiac testing. Experience includes student internship Preferred: Master's degree in Exercise Physiology/Science or related field and minimum of one year experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
