The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country.The general role of the HVAC/R Technician I is to perform repairs, maintenance, and installations on a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and some residential HVAC/R equipment. This position will provide quality customer service and perform minor electrical and plumbing or piping repairs and installation work.This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of HVAC/R work and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation. This position will require a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel with overnight stays.Perform troubleshooting, installations, repairs, maintenance, and retrofits to a variety of equipment, including but not limited to commercial, industrial, and residential air conditioning, refrigeration, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, and control systemsPerform basic troubleshooting with electrical and plumbing applications Provide quality customer service while performing duties in the fieldCommunicate with customers to foster trust and keep them informed during the processAssist with identifying new business opportunities and communicate covered services to customersLearn to identify changes to the scope of work Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures at all timesFoster confidence with customers and maintain repeat businessEnsure that all work performed meets or exceeds applicable codes, standards, and best practices Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectivelyProvide detailed paperwork and documentation to ensure accurate record keeping, billing and inventoryMaintain inventory to ensure availability of essential parts, materials, tools, and equipmentAssist with ordering specialty parts to include providing information on part specs as neededMaintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a professional and workman-like mannerTrain and mentor HVAC/R Apprentices and provide feedback for performance reviews as requestedRegularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and armsSit, stand, and kneel for extended periods of timeWork in extreme temperatures The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 poundsPerform duties on-site at industrial/commercial locationsWork at heights to include ladders, lifts, and rooftops0-3 year’s of experience in HVAC/R related work while holding a Journeyman or equivalent licensingPossess and maintain an active HVAC/R license, MD Journeyman preferredPossess a Universal EPA (Sect 608) Refrigerant and Recovery Certification requiredPossess a valid driver’s license requiredAbility and willingness to work both independently and in a team environment Aptitude for or experience in leadership preferredProficient with basic hand and power toolsMust have strong customer service skills and enjoy working with the publicMust possess a mechanical aptitudeAbility to perform mathematical calculations accuratelyAbility to read a tape measure and take accurate measurementsAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingProficient with the materials, methods, equipment, and tools involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems Experience with problem solving based on general physics, the refrigeration cycle and electrical circuit theoryAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings Willing to learn and expand skillset and certificationsAbility to use mobile technology to complete documentation and reports in the fieldProficient with personal computers to include software such as Microsoft Office, etc.Ability to act in a professional manner and follow work directionMust possess strong time management skills and follow dispatch and scheduled workAdaptable and calm under pressureAbility to meet deadlinesMust be dependable and trustworthyMust possess a positive attitudePerks/BenefitsComprehensive BenefitsHealth/Life insurance401(k) retirement planShort/Long term disabilityPaid time off and holidaysPaid lodging, per diem, and transportation provided for out-of-town workEmployee focused work environmentOn-the-job mentoring and trainingInternal job postingsPerformance and salary reviewsEmployee feedback programSafety-first and drug free work environmentsBonuses and incentives for working safelyCompany provided tools and basic safety equipmentPPE allowances with no restrictions on vendorsWeekly pay with premium pay for Sundays and holidaysAdvancement through defined employee career pathsFinancial tools/programs to help employees reach financial goals, manage money, get out of debt, and save for the futureScholarship opportunities for dependent childrenAdditional Eligibility QualificationsThis position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
