In this role, the successful candidate under the guidance of the Assistant Manager of Decision Support and Value Improvement, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical support for system-wide Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) and Value Based Management (VBM) initiatives, which includes continuous identification of opportunities and implementation of solutions to drive value across all sites of the health system. The candidate will have a primary focus on leveraging coding and documentation data in order to assess productivity and workflows, and identify potential areas of opportunity to improve outcome metrics. The candidate will also be involved in the enhancement of existing system-wide financial dashboards and development of new dashboards that support strategic initiatives. In particular, the ideal candidate would be experienced in data reconciliation, data analysis, and visualization. In addition, the candidate should be comfortable with handling large data sets, have strong communication skills, and a team-oriented perspective. He/she may also be involved with the numerous ongoing projects relating to the identification of cost saving opportunities, physician resource utilization analysis, quality/cost analysis, and dashboard creation. The Senior Financial Analyst will also be engaged in the various benchmarking activities and other projects as needed.Job Responsibilities:Perform a wide portfolio of complex analyses including, but not limited to financial, operational, clinical, and benchmark reportingBuild strong relationships with MCIT, Revenue Cycle & Clinical Leadership in order to understand the current CDI process and effectuate changeConduct financial analyses to identify cost, revenue, and quality improvement opportunities and provide decision support for key strategic initiativesDevelop and maintain system-wide Tableau dashboards that span financial reporting, identification of value opportunities, and department performance for annual financial goalsPackage and summarize analytical findings for senior leadership with clear understanding of results and thoughtful recommendationsIndependently develop analytical frameworks for large, complex data sets and exercise discretion and judgement in analytical approachProactively communicate to management any arising issues or barriers to meet timelines/deliverablesIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement (e.g. improving data integrity, process flow); act independently on resolving / improvingUtilize Alteryx, SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Tableau for data analysis, validation, and visualizationDemonstrates initiative for taking on new tasks or responsibilities. Exhibits creative thinking by suggesting alternative and innovative solutions to problems encounteredMinimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) and 3-5 years of related experience. A graduate in business or public administration is preferred. Other minimum qualifications include: excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a comprehensive knowledge all applications within Microsoft Office; specifically with Excel. He or She must know vlookups, pivot tables, sub-totals, and other Excel functions.Preferred Qualifications:Mid-level of proficiency in Tableau, Excel and SQL programsExtensive experience in data transformation/manipulation Basic understanding of database relationships and structuresExperience in Business Intelligence/visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI)Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.NYU Langone Health provides its staff with far more than just a place to work. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $99,353.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
