You might be the right candidate for this or other roles we have available Join our Team Job HighlightsThe Application Technology Engineer will provide valuable insight and services combining the areas of mechanical design and material knowledge to internal colleagues and external customers. They will master the knowledge and application of our polyurethane formulations into end markets as well as providing guidance on material selection, processing guidelines, design of elastomeric parts using both closed-loop solutions and open-loop solutions such as FEA, CAD, and general engineering calculations. They will use standard as well as custom mechanical and material testing methods to characterize elastomeric parts and specimens, using the generated material data for modeling efforts and applying to specific customer needs. Job Responsibilities Provide product and process recommendations utilizing existing polyurethane systems as well as development of new formulations to meet customer, end user, and application performance needs. Provide mechanical engineering and design support to internal and external customers, including engineering calculations, 2D/3D modeling of parts, Finite Element Analysis, part and mold design advice. Coordinate mechanical testing of customer parts as well as internal test specimens to properly characterize and understand material performance such as application force vs deflection, elastomer strain vs deflection, ASTM mechanical properties, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, as well as customer or application specific custom testing. Understand and experiment with polyurethane formulation and processing to align material selection with end applications, develop new formulations to improve peformance, and troubleshoot customers' processing challenges. Identify new technical and commercial opportunities and contribute to development pipeline for future growth. Travel to existing and new customer's as well as industry trade shows for opportunity hunting, material trials, process troubleshooting, and developing strong customer relationships. Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or similar discipline. A minimum of 5 years of industry experience, preferably supporting Polyurethane formulations and experience displaying mechanical aptitude. Must possess a good understanding of elastomeric mechanical properties and how to design mechanical elastomeric parts. Familiarity with polyurethane, polymers preferred. Must be able to interpret and utilize standard test methods as well as develop and execute non-standard or custom tests, methods, or experiments to evaluate specific mechanical or material properties. Must be adept at setting up, running, and intrepreting FEA results to answer mechanical engineering-related questions. Must be comfortable interacting with customers and capable at explaining complex mechanical engineering topics to persons with varrying backgrounds and levels of technical understanding. What we offer you: Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program and an individual performance bonus program. The established pay range for this position is $104,000to $140,000. Please note, the actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
