Coordinator of Fieldwork and InternshipsPart-time, not to exceed 17.5 hours per weekHourly Rate: $28.19Application Deadline: June 25, 2024 @ 4:00 PM ESTPosition Summary:SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Fieldwork and Internships.The Coordinator of Fieldwork and Internships will report to the Dean of Student Success and is responsible for ensuring that all non-instructional phases of the internship processes are completed for academic programs requiring such experiences and for the College's general internship course. This position does not involve classroom instruction.Examples of DutiesCreate and maintain processes and procedures leading to student placement at an internship or fieldwork itiate and maintain contact with existing and potential internship sites, including but not limited to regular and consistent contact with sites to ensure current contact information and willingness to host students. Coordinate with SUNY Ulster departments that maintain their own contact and programming with employer sites. Work as a member of SUNY Ulster's Employer Engagement Team and ensure that the internship program is well coordinated with other College programs serving employers.Maintain data relevant to current and potential internship and fieldwork sites and make the data available to faculty and students.Create and distribute announcements at the beginning of each academic term, one semester prior to student enrollment, making the campus community aware of the steps necessary to secure internship and fieldwork plete the pre-internship/fieldwork process with students, including but not limited to initial interview, completion and review of application, assistance in student selection of site, student contact with site, and placement agreement at site.Work with instructors of internship and fieldwork courses to ensure students complete non-instructional course outcomes as contained in course syllabi. If requested, conduct site visits to internship and fieldwork sites, collect information as requested and share with course instructor or faculty supervisor.Represent the college by participating in new student orientation and open house programs that highlight the value of pursuing an internship. Serve as a resource for faculty advisors; and maintain appropriate documentation and records.Provide job search assistance, including résumé and interviewing support; assist in coordination of on-site campus recruitment visits for employers and transfer institutionsParticipate in ongoing professional development activities in the field of internship and career counseling, higher education student success, and cultural competency; attend conferences and training sessions.Serve on college committees; participate in professional organizations; and represent the College at regional and state meetings, as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or associate degree and at least two years of relevant experience in workplace recruitment or placement, human resources, or direct student services.A commitment to SUNY Ulster's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mission, goals, and objectives of providing quality programs and services for a culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse community; qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students and individuals with diverse abilities and interests.Desirable QualificationsExperience with post-secondary internship programs.Experience using student information systems and career interest profilers.Experience working with community college students.
