For more information, go tomed.nyu.edu, and interact with us onLinkedIn,Glassdoor,Indeed,Facebook,TwitterandInstagram.Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist this role, the successful candidate supports the Transplant Institute Immunogenetics Laboratory by independently performing high complexity, immunologic testing in serological and molecular based assays. Individual must have NYSDOH licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYSDOH restricted licensure in histocompatibility.Job Responsibilities: Receive/accession specimens and verify all information is accurate and complete. Maintain competency in each laboratory assay. Accurately document all laboratory results and ensure all records are complete. Maintain computer records for patient data, test results, reagents, and supplies. Participate in laboratory quality control and equipment maintenance. Perform proficiency testing on a rotational basis. Prepare laboratory reagents. Perform inventory checks. Maintain a safe and clean laboratory area. Adhere to all laboratory and institutional policies and procedures. Participate in continuing education programs and maintain CE credits for NYSDOH and MT(ASCP), if applicable, accreditation. Rotate on call coverage for stat procedures. Teach laboratory procedures to extra-departmental staff including residents and fellows as well as visiting students and clinicians. Train Clinical Technologist I & II and Laboratory Assistant personnel. Perform observation steps for Clinical Technologist I & II competency assessments. Troubleshoot techniques and instrumentation issues. Validate new assays. Write and validate new SOPs. Accurately analyze, interpret and report results. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of histocompatibility and immunogenetics theory and applications. Maintain technical and behavioral competencies. Perform all other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or MT(ASCP) certification or Bachelors degree in Biology or Chemistry or equivalent in order to meet the minimum New York State Department of Education requirements. NYSDOH license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYSDOH Restricted License in Histocompatibility Testing. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Expertise in dealing with scientific principles' involved in the methodology performed, as well as alternative methodologies and their application to a given situation. Experience with Microsoft office, hospital-based and laboratory-based software systems. Four years as a Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist II or five years experience in other high complexity clinical or research testing. Must be available to report to work within one hour of STAT testing requests.Required Licenses: Clinical Lab Technologist-NYSPreferred Qualifications:1. American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) 2. American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) Certified Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) 3. The salary range for the role is $107,700.00 - $135,150.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
