DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:The Assistant Director of Institutional Giving will be tasked with supporting the development of the institutional giving strategy for the agency and assisting with overseeing SCO's grant writing process and outreach to potential funders and foundations. This position will work to create compelling, outcomes-driven letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and other correspondence for current and prospective foundation, corporate and government funders.This position reports to the Director of Institutional Giving.This individual will be responsible for Help with the creation of a long-range strategic plan to grow institutional sources of support; identifying new opportunities with existing funders as well as new prospectsSupport the creation of portfolios of foundations, corporations, and government funders to meet and exceed individual and departmental goalsCollaborate with SCO's Development team and Director of Institutional Giving to develop concepts and cultivate relationships with institutional fundersSupport the writing and editing process of institutional funding materials to include LOIs, proposals, acknowledgements, and reportsEnsure high-quality stewardship by coordinating intra-organizational efforts to engage funders using materials generated by program staff including reports, factsheets, articles, and online toolsWork with the fiscal and program teams on the preparation of proposal budgets and financial documentsManage and track all aspects of the institutional fundraising process from identification to reporting, acknowledgement to stewardship in Raisers Edge NXT databaseMonitor compliance with grant deliverables and outcomesReview and evaluate government and foundation requests for proposalsConduct in-depth research to identify prospects for new foundation, corporate, and government proposalsWork closely with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Institutional Giving to track revenue goals, reporting on a weekly and monthly basisCollaborate with the Development Team to identify opportunities to strategically highlight programs in events throughout the year according to funding cyclesOther duties as requested, based on department and/or organizational needsRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree requiredRequires a minimum of three years of experience in institutional giving, preferably at a NY-based social services agencyRequired Skills:Experience and ability working with budgets and program outcome dataProficiency in MS Office applications, with particular emphasis on Excel and Word, PowerPoint, as well as Web-based researchExperience with database management, Raiser's Edge NXT strongly preferredMust possess excellent verbal communication skills and have ability to speak/collaborate frequently with foundation representatives and program staffCreative and strategic thinking is a mustDemonstrated success in soliciting and renewing contributions from foundations by articulating a compelling case for support through multiple communication toolsExperience with government grantsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to work both independently and as a member of a teamMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of work experience required. Must be organized, have strong time management, communication, analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent writer, motivated, and a team player. Flexibility to work different schedules when needed.
