DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:To support the philanthropic growth and impact of the SCO, we are seeking an Assistant Director of Development. The Assistant Director of Development is an externally focused development professional who will work collaboratively with SCO program staff and leadership. The Assistant Director of Development has the responsibility for engaging a portfolio of individuals, corporations, and foundations that have a potential affinity with SCO. The Assistant Director's effectiveness will be evaluated on the ability to achieve financial goals and contact metrics consistent with the programs and prospects assigned.They will work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer and key Program Directors to create a coherent strategy for increased funding to meet revenue goals. This key position reports to the Chief Development Officer.Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donorsRecommend and implement cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and engagement strategies for prospectsWork with executive leadership and board members as appropriateMeet with prospects both in-person and virtually, with regular travel throughout the assigned regionParticipate in the development of fundraising strategies for increased giving in all donor categoriesManage a portfolio of prospects throughout the fundraising cycle - identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.Meet monthly/annual donor contact and proposal submission goalsMeet and exceed fundraising goalsMaintain constituent updates in the CRM, Raiser's Edge NXTAssist agency administrators in the recognition of institutional funding needs, keeping up to date on institutional priorities, programs, people, and eventsAssist with departmental initiatives, including special eventsOther duties as assignedAdept at project management processes and toolsBachelor's degree requiredFive+ years of fundraising and/or sales experienceExperience in the human services field a plusHighly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsProactive strategic thinker with strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently and as a team memberAbility to navigate work responsibilities in building donor relationships that require regular travel, evening and weekend meetings and time commitments
