Interns must commit to 1 or 2 days a week (full workday) for two semesters. The Housing intern will collaborate with the team in managing all administrative tasks, such as conducting housing research in regional areas, online work, and handling paperwork such as agreements or adjustments to eviction notices. Additionally, they will assist in managing applications such as TANF and PSGEG accounts, as well as gathering information regarding housing in New Jersey. The intern will play a crucial role in providing organizational support to the staff. This internship offers valuable real-world experience in social work, advocacy, and social justice.Responsibilities:Collaborate solely with the housing team and not directly with clients.Manage all administrative tasks including conducting housing research in regional areas, online work, and handling paperwork such as agreements or adjustments to eviction notices.Handle applications such as TANF and PSGEG accounts.Gather information regarding housing in New Jersey.Adhere to the organization's policies, particularly those related to client confidentiality and privacy.Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.Learning Objectives: The intern will understand the challenges and factors influencing the search for housing for individuals and families in need. The intern will learn best practices for providing client-centered and needs-based housing services. The intern will develop skills in problem-solving related to housing, providing customer service, and teamwork within the housing team. The intern will gain experience in managing direct housing services, including documentation requirements and follow-up.Requirements:Pass required background checks (PREA, FBI, CA/N, Criminal background Check)Languages: Fluency or highly conversational in Spanish, Dari or Creole Preferred.Excellent communication and writing skills, including writing and grammar.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Mandated reporter responsibility and must participate in ongoing supervision activities.Able to work in a multi-cultural environment.Passionate and committed to learning about the broader CWS mission, global work, and local efforts.Willing to travel around 50 miles from Jersey City, NJWilling to adhere to CWS volunteer and workplace policies.Cultural humility and sensitivity to this vulnerable immigrant population with a strong commitment to immigrant rights, social justice, and a strong desire to help unaccompanied children adjust to life in the U.S.
