Directly supervise, hire, train and evaluate marine personnel. Conduct Tug Inspections, attend SIRE inspections, and conduct evaluations and navigation audits of Deck Officers via direct observations on board. Develop marine operations and cost control programs for vessels. Assist in new project development, interfacing with customers, etc. Assist in vessel scheduling of personnel as required. Produce weekly Operations reports.Supervise Captains, Mates, and Deck CrewsConduct Management Vessel Inspections on repair and maintenance standards and proceduresEnsuring that vessels are SIRE ready at all timesAssist in scheduling of SIRE’s, and SIRE inspectionsPerform incident investigationsManage compliance with Company safety programPrompt and correct response to operating situationsRecruitment, performance reviews and auditing of marine personnelDevelop and administer operating & cost control procedures on Company vesselsPerform inspections of vessels on repair & maintenance standards and proceduresAssist in new project developmentInterface with customers on an ongoing basisOperate company vessels as Captain if directed by President, Vice President, Director of Marine Operations, or General ManagerAccident & Spill Free OperationsTraining, professional skill development of marine personnelSafety record of vessels and crewDevelopment of company operating procedures and acceptance by VettersPerform in the company Spill Management team as assignedPerform other related duties as assignedFive (5) years of experience as Master on Inland towing vessels, pushing barges on the ICWW from Corpus Christ TX to Pascagoula MS. Western Rivers including LMR, Illinois, Ohio or equivalent military experience.Four (4) year college education in Maritime or related studies or equivalent experience.Valid US Coast Guard Masters of Towing for Inland and Western Rivers. Or at least a 200 ton Near Coastal Master with Master Western Rivers and a tow endorsement.Minimum of two years shoreside vessel managementDangerous Liquids barge PIC endorsement strongly preferred500T Minimum Master of Towing preferredExtensive knowledge of the tugboat and oil transportation industryMust be thoroughly familiar with tank barge, ship and terminal/refinery operationsKnowledge of tug and barge maintenance systems and equipmentComplete a 24 hour HAZWOPER course (including Incident Command System) training within 6 months of being hiredFirst Aid/CPR trainingSTCW Certification preferredValid State Driver’s licenseAbility to get along with office staff and vessel crew membersMaintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communicationsAble and willing to travel to the out portsAbility to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgmentAbility to understand and execute complex oral and written instructionsAbility to work independently with minimal or no guidanceProficient using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate safe and prompt service delivery.Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends concerning changes in schedules and conditions, operational concerns, and in response to incidents.Centerline Logistics is a leading provider of marine transportation services in the United States.
