Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a Construction Management Faculty - Full-Time, Tenure TrackThe Department of Applied Engineering Technology is pleased to invite applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment in Construction Management/Architectural Design at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Date of appointment is August 2024. The primary need is within the Construction Management discipline, although there may be additional teaching opportunities in Architectural Design, so we invite a wide range of credentials, skill sets, and backgrounds to apply.Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of Construction Management courses and labs, as well as an opportunity to teach within the Architectural Design discipline. Knowledge of other construction-related fields is also valued, including, but not limited to: building systems, renewable energy systems, building performance evaluation, HVAC, and building trades.The successful candidate will be qualified to teach some of the following classes and labs:CMG-101 Introduction to Construction & ArchitectureCMG-102 Building Plan InterpretationCMG-112 Construction Graphics ICMG-120 Building Materials & ConstructionCMG-140 Introduction to MEP/FP SystemsCMG-150 Construction Workplace SafetyCMG-210 Construction Scheduling & PlanningCMG-220 Construction EstimatesCMG-250 Principles of StructuresCMG-280 Construction Project ManagementADS-101 Social Impact of Global Built EnvironmentsADS-111 Design Fundamentals IADS-112 Design Fundamentals IIADS-120L Building Materials & Construction LabADS-171 Architectural CAD IADS-172 Architectural CAD IIADS-211 Architectural Design IADS-212 Architectural Design IIBe responsive to student questions and available for student support;Use appropriate technology to enhance learning;Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives;Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education;Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion;Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes;Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; and,Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.NoUSD $56,250.00/Yr.USD $56,250.00/Yr.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Appointment at the Rank of Instructor:Associate degree in the subject area of Construction Management and/or Architecture, or closely allied field;Industry-recognized professional license or certification; andMinimum of five years of full-time related industry experience.Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor:Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or closely allied field, preferably from a NAAB accredited institution;Three years of work experience in construction/architecture;Prior experience providing training or instruction in Construction Management and/or Architecture;Knowledge and enthusiasm about design, construction technology, sustainability and resiliency issues.ORMaster's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or closely allied field; andThree years of work experience in construction/architecture.ORDoctorate in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or closely allied field.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Professional registration/certification (PE, AIA, PMP, CPC, LEED AP)Active participation in OSHA or other professional and community organizations related to Construction ManagementBackground in teaching college level courses and curricular developmentDemonstrated connections with local industry.Bilingual in Spanish & English (English and another language will be considered)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESProficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project);Practical hands-on, design or technology management experience in the application of Construction Management and/or Architecture.Possess 30 hour OSHA CredentialFamiliar with some or all of the following software programs: Autocad Procore Revit Rhino, Enscape, and/or Lumion SketchupAdditional Information:The 2023-2024 starting salary for the rank of Instructor is $50,000 and Assistant Professor is $56,250 based on a 15-credit teaching load per fall and spring semester.Additional compensation available for teaching additional courses.Salaries for 2024-2025 are not yet available.Onondaga Community College offers a generous and competitive benefits package including:New York State Teacher's Retirement System or TIAA enrollmentExcellent health and dental insurance plans (qualifying domestic partner included)Please submit questions to :Submit resume, cover letter and applicable documentation related to certificates and licenses per the following link:transcripts are required at time of hire.SUNY OCC CareersOnondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State.
