The Mylan Park Aquatic Center is an impressive, state-of-the-art, and fully accessible 90,000-square-foot facility featuring a 50-meter Olympic pool and diving well. Additionally, the facility houses a community pool with zero-depth entry, water slides, and play features, a six-lane lap pool, an outdoor splash pad, multi-purpose rooms to rent, and a fitness room. This facility promotes life-long health development in an innovative, friendly, and well-maintained environment.The Camp Counselor position entails handling the day-to-day operations of the MP ATC Summer camp. You will assist with the instructions and supervision of all ATC camps. Today, CENTERS provides management services for 14 clients.Essential Responsibilities:[To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Other essential and non-essential responsibilities and projects may be assigned.Supervise camper activities to ensure a fun, safe environmentExecute weekly camp games, activities, on-campus field trips, crafts, etc.Correctly respond to any injury or emergency situationsProvide encouragement to all participants in programMonitor camper drop-off and pick-up each dayFully participate in all camp games and activities, including swimming during pool time and belaying during climbing at the rock wallHandle camper disputes and other behavioral issues; accordingly, discipline as necessaryEffectively communicate with parents and guardians throughout the camp dayPromote a safe, learning environment for campersBe available for both morning, afternoon shifts, and periodically throughout the Fall and Spring semesterAttend staff meetings as scheduledOther duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:[The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum education and/or hands-on experience necessary to perform each essential responsibility.]Minimum of 18 years of ageCurrent CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO) Certification or able to receive certification within 30 days of 1st day of camp (June 5th)Complete all other required training upon hiringExperience in youth programming or supervision preferredLeadership and supervisory abilitiesKnowledge of standard practices in recreational sportsAbility to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestylesGood interpersonal skills and ability to relate with peers, children, and parentsAbility to work as independently as well as apart of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleaguesAnalytical skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisionsKnowledge of standard practices in youth supervisionStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer competencyAbility to handle customer service issues as it relates to Camp activity.Strong organizational and time management skillsState and federal background check completed and turned in before first day of training.Work Environment and Physical Demands[The demands marked below are representative of those that will be required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
