Responsibilities include workflow and staff management, staff development, technical leadership, project management, quality assurance, and client management.Workflow and Staff ManagementMonthly team financial and staffing forecasts with a 3 month look aheadMaster team project list updated monthlyMonitor monthly team billings, profitability, and staff utilizationCoordinate workflow and staffing with Group Leader and other teamsIdentify hiring needs and assist with interviewingEnsure proper staff trainingBe flexible with staff on opportunities for advancement and learning within the team, the group and the companyLead employee performance review effortEffectively deal with personnel issues within the team in conjunction with Group Leader, Human Resources and upper managementKeep team personnel morale highStaff DevelopmentGuide staff in developing and monitoring their career development planDevelop technical skills of Engineers and Project ManagersDevelop Project Managers to prepare proposals, establish fees, bill projects, and to be responsible for the financial success of projectsDevelop Project Managers to successfully manage all aspects of projectsDevelop Project Managers to create and maintain client relationshipsDevelop Project Managers to delegate design tasksCreate a timetable for Project Manager development and monitor progressMonitor and assist Project Manager’s performanceTechnical LeadershipDirect all aspects of the development of utility infrastructure study and design projects in the areas of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater.Mentor less experienced staffSolve technical problemsIdentify project roadblocks and assist in resolving themProject ManagementPrepare proposals, fee negotiations, and contractsTrack financial progress of individual projects and Project ManagersDrive velocity on all projects and maintain project schedulesAssist group and other groups to be profitableQuality AssuranceEnsure that every project gets adequate review at every stageUse technical resources to assist in quality controlClient ManagementEstablish good relationships with clientsLook for new opportunities with existing clientsProvide support for our sales forceLook for opportunities with prospective clientsPerformance Measures:Progress of Team staff developmentProfitability of TeamAmount and volume of Team billingsNumber of client relationships established and maintainedManagement:Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organizationDemonstrated ability to lead and mentor staff membersDemonstrated participation in proposals and presentations, with the ability to win workAssist in defining business plan to execute work, grow and develop new businessTechnical: Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitablyExtensive client contacts/relationships with local municipalities10 years in Utility Infrastructure engineering including design of wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collections systems and lift stationsDriving client satisfactionEducation: BS in Civil or Environmental EngineeringLicenses: Professional Engineer, with licensure reciprocity to Ohio
