Janssen Global Services, LLC is part of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies. The VP, Trial and Research Excellence and Strategic Operations (TREX and Strat Ops) is responsible for accelerating delivery of Worldwide Integrated Evidence Generation Plans and studies, through the design and implementation of aligned worldwide processes, standards and governance. This role will ensure dedicated focus on speed to impact for J&J medical affairs research across the portfolio. The VP, TREX and Strat Ops will work in partnership with Medical Affairs Delivery Unit (MADU) to oversee the J&J Medical Affairs Research budget with governance and tracking accountabilities. In addition, the VP, TREX will have accountability for operational execution of Global Publications, compliance/SOPs and all Medical Affairs systems. Major Duties & Responsibilities Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for J&J to grow to best in industry medical affairs research function in collaboration with Market Access, MADU, and Real World Evidence, across global/regions/countries. Design, implement and maintain, in collaboration with cross functional and regional partners, WW Research Standards, processes, and templates for strategy and planning of Interventional & Non-Interventional Prospective Medical Affairs Research Studies. Ensure alignment to WW Standards through the deployment of disease area aligned Medical Affairs Research Teams (MARTs) and the supporting operating model in partnership with GMAF TA Teams. The studies in scope for MARTs include all prospective MAF studies across Global, Regional and Local at J&J Innovative Medicines. Maintain a transparent library of shareable MAF Research best practices, including developing a new streamlined protocol template specifically designed for MAF studies Design and implement a worldwide system for tracking end-to-end MAF Research Optimize WW IEGP prioritization criteria and assessment process Design and implement end-to-end MAF Research Governance and processes Responsible for overall delivery of Global Medical Affairs Strategic Operations, including Technology solutions across medical affairs Global Publications process and standards Compliance/SOPs requiring GMAF approval including cross pharma SOP's GCSO GMAF Procurement & Contracting Provide strategic people leadership, mentorship, coaching and performance management to the team as well as lead talent strategies across medical affairs Deliver GCSO financial commitments. Ensure ongoing MAF research budget tracking and monitoring, working in close partnership with Medical Affairs Operations Track and monitor cross TA GMAF departmental budget Qualifications Requirements Advanced degree: MD/DO, PharmD or PhD required or international equivalent A minimum of 10 years of relevant progressive pharmaceutical experience is required Extensive experience in clinical research including leadership roles in managing research. Deep clinical trial design expertise Demonstrated ability to influence scientific debate and decision making. Proven track record in driving organizational change in large multi-regional corporate settings. Strategic thinking and intellectual curiosity Ability to drive projects forward to completion through planning and organizational skills while maintaining focus on the long-term strategy Strong collaboration/matrix management, influencing, strong communication skills (both written and verbal) Demonstrated leadership ability to successfully work across functional and geographic boundaries, preferably across multiple countries/market types/access models Demonstrated learning agility and the ability to effectively influence portfolio strategies based on insights and foresights to future scientific direction Proven strategic thinking and strategic commercial skills across product and lifecycle Ability to drive projects forward to completion through planning and organizational skills while maintaining focus on the long-term strategy Proven track record on ethics and Credo principles Approximately 20% domestic & international travel A least 5 years of People management experience The anticipated base pay range for this position is $235,000 to $431,250.
