SkillBridge (DoD) - CEI Inspector Locations: Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Virginia, Michigan.***This training opportunity is unique to ONLY Active-Duty U.S. Military Members with formal approval from their command***SkillBridge Training Start Date:Start dates are dependent on the qualified service member. Dates are able to be adjusted as necessary and will last approximately 12 weeks.This opportunity is for a CEI Inspector who will provide construction oversight on active roadway and bridge projects in the designated area. This position is intended to be a career-building opportunity as the successful candidate will be required to grow their CEI skills through a combination of hands-on and classroom training throughout the program. Successful candidates will also have opportunities for career growth in inspection, project management, client management, and business development. RS&H offers specific training in project management and client management, as well as general career growth training and mentorship. We are focused on developing your existing skills and fostering a teamwork approach in delivering construction management and oversight on various heavy civil transportation projects.What you will do throughout the training program:Once accepted/approved, the training program will commence by introducing participants to the core values and culture of RS&H. The training you will be able to:Understand construction plansUnderstand contractor payment procedures and processesHave an awareness of materials needsUnderstand contract documentsDevelop appropriate inspection plansEssential functions once hired as a full-time employee (FTE)Maintain detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations, including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the workMonitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issuesMonitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issuesPerform sampling and testing of component materials and completed workVerify the dimensions of prepared and completed workInspect the construction work and conduct field testsTrack/measure completed work quantities for paymentPerform survey checksCompletes all other tasks as assignedQualifications:Active-Duty Service Member within 180 days of honorable separationEligible/Approved for the DoD SkillBridge programStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust have a Valid Driver's License with a good driving recordMust obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time framesAbility to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods, under various outside conditionsAbility to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasksAbility to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protectionAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 poundsPreferred Qualifications:Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related fieldfrom anABET-accrediteduniversityAbility to read and interpret construction plans and specificationsArmy 12 Series MOS or similar Air Force AFSC 3E5X1 or similar Navy NOS H100, H110 or similarUSMC MOS 1345, 1341 or similarCoast Guard ENG MOS or similar While RS&H was founded in 1941, we have been providing construction management services as one of our primary business practices since 1984.
