**THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO*** MUST BE LOCATED WITHIN 75 MILES RADIUS TO APPLYPay Range: $26-$30 per hour + OvertimeThe Well Service Field Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repair of diesel trucks, trailers, well service rigs, diesel pickups, well service triplex pumps, power swivels and various pipe handling tools and equipment. This position requires a strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, truck power train repair, and transmission and right angle drive replacement. The Mechanic must be able to work with an extensive array of power tools, jacks, hoists, presses, forklifts, power packs and cutting tools. In addition, the Field Mechanic must be experienced at using grinders, power saws, welders, truck mounted cranes, cutting torches, spray paint equipment, and various other heavy duty shop tools.Works in a safe, healthy and environmentally protective mannerReplaces brakes on diesel trucks and trailersReplaces transmissions and right angle drives Inspects and assures the equipment is safe, field ready and repaired to specificationsPerforms major repairs at the well site occasionallyServices handling equipmentMaintains BOP equipmentSpecifies and procures replacement partsTroubleshoots diesel engine electronic ignition issuesWorks well with other mechanics and participates in problem solvingWorks occasional weekends and/or nightsReports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazardsParticipates, trains and takes a leadership role in all safety programs, processes and requirementsAttends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locationsPerforms other duties as directed by managementThe employee must:Be at least 18 years of agePass a post-offer physical examination, fitness testing, safety aptitude test, drug tests & background checkProvide proof and maintain proper legal authorization to work in the United StatesSpeak and read English well enough to understand verbal and written safety postings, alerts and announcements, communicate with co-workers and be able to participate in job safety analysis meetingsPossess a valid CDL License and meet Ensign Insurance Requirements to driveUnderstands and is capable of reading all safety / training requirements and materialsUnderstands all rig and truck components and necessary servicing, according to maintenance schedulesWorks in a manner that insures personal safety and the safety of fellow crewmembersMaintains a professional, effective, and polite relationship with other Ensign employees and suppliersStrives continuously to develop a greater knowledge of the total operations, including the duties and responsibilities of each positionWorks well as a team player and demonstrates willingness to share knowledge to advance knowledge and skills of othersRespects chain of command and follows through on instructionsPossesses a 2 year mechanical degreePossesses a CDL and meets Ensign Insurance Requirements to drive is preferredPossesses own hand tools and locking boxesExhibits safe shop work practices High School diploma or GED is preferredBusiness Ethics - Understands fully Ensign’s ethics policy and its application in all business dealings including contractual agreements and contract negotiations Business Policies - Understands and agrees to follow all of Ensign’s Policy and Directives and procedures as set forth in the Ensign Company Policy and Basic Directives Handbook for Employees Certifications - Maintains technical and safety certifications required by company or government agencies; remains current on all OSHA, EUSD and other required trainingDrug-free workplace - Conforms to a drug-free workplace, not be under the influence of mind-altering prescription or non-prescription drugs, including alcohol and other drugs of abuse.Occupational Health and Safety - Understands fully the Ensign Health and Safety policy and self-responsibility for own health and safety at work; Demonstrates responsibility to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omissionUses the correct protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipmentReports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minorAvoids injury resulting from manual handling tasks, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniques
