noda is a 1 Michelin Star omakase restaurant located in Chelsea, NY. Opened in 2017, Shigeyuki Tsunoda has practiced his precise Edomae style skills in the competitve NYC market. We are currently looking for motivated cooks seeking to learn Edomae style preparation and cooking and/or those experienced in the preparation of high-end Japanese cuisine. Job Requirements Break down fish, crustaceans, and other seafood in a clean and efficient manner Ensure food safety standards are always maintained, including proper storage of all kitchen items, use of PPE, and executing recipes with accurate preparation and timing Follow all cleaning procedures and ensure best hygiene and personal grooming practices Collaborate effectively and respectfully with all team members. Effectively communicate with management and immediately report any equipment, food quality, and service issues. Prepare daily family meal and any other prep/receiving duties, as assigned Skills, Abilities and Experience: 1+ years of work in restaurants. Always maintains a warm and friendly demeanor. A commitment to learn. Ability to work independently and under pressure. This position will spend 100% of the time standing. Ability to work nights and weekends, and up to 6 days per week. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Skills, Abilities and Experience: NYC Food Protection Course Certification (preferred) ServSafe Certified (preferred) Seafood prep and breakdown (preferred) Previous work in a Japanese kitchen (preferred)
