Parker Towing Company, is currently hiring for deckhands. Don't miss this great career opportunity. Parker Towing offers a steersman program, tankerman program, and senior chief engineering program. All those selected for these programs start out as deckhands. For this position, the schedule consists of 14 days on, 7 days off. This position allows you to be home each day. Therefore, we are looking for local candidates in the Decatur, Huntsville, Madison area. At Parker Towing, we strive to offer the best benefits for you and your family: medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance, bi-annual bonuses, 401k, and so on.Primary Responsibilities of a Deckhand:Build and break towLine handlingAssist with going through locksTying off vessels at fleets and docksPerform minor towboat and barge maintenanceMaintain barge in towKeep boat and barges safe and cleanHousehold chores: cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dish washing, etc., keeping exterior of boat cleanRequirements:Must be 18 years of age or olderMust have a high school diploma or GEDMust have a valid/current drivers license, NO EXCEPTIONSMust be able to pass United States Coast Guard physical requirements including but not limited to lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying heavy equipment, maintain balance and navigate uneven surfaces, climbing up and down ladders and stairways.Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions (extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, etc.)Must be able to work required scheduleMust be able to work various weekends and holidaysMust be able to pass United States Coast Guard drug screenMust be able to understand and complete verbal and written ordersMust have or be able to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)Powered by JazzHR
