Base pay range $160,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Director - Southall Sage | Chemicals & Materials Search Specialist A leading mid-sized specialty chemicals business is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee all day-to-day engineering operations at a key manufacturing facility, and provide input into long-term strategic direction for the site. A proven Engineering/Operations leader with substantial experience in specialty chemicals/process manufacturing environments will excel in this position. The company produces a variety of performance additives for a number of applications including coatings, process aids, lubricants, plastics, and water treatment, across multiple production and R&D locations globally. The ideal candidate will have expertise in manufacturing operations, project management, and team leadership. This role is crucial for driving operational excellence and ensuring the efficient production of the company's product range. You must adopt the strong safety mindset of the company, understanding the necessity for efficiency but also maintaining the highest industry safety standards. Reporting to the Site GM, you will oversee a small team of Manufacturing/Process Engineers, and be responsible for their continued development/training, workload management, and overall building a culture of safety, teamwork, and collaboration. Key Responsibilities: Plan and implement efficiency improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Oversee capital engineering projects from planning through to completion for a batch manufacturing site with 100+ employees. Take accountability for capital budget allocation and some elements of vendor management. Keep abreast of new technologies in the market from an automation/production perspective, having the confidence to make recommendations to management when you identify reasonable means to make improvements. Work closely with site leadership peers in Operations, Procurement, Finance, and Quality to maintain a close-knit environment all driving towards the same efficiency and safety goals. Constantly monitor manufacturing processes to ensure they comply with HSE standards on a local and industrial level. Work closely with dedicated HSE colleagues to enable their effective reporting and action. What the Position Requires: BS or MS in Engineering - Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc. 10-15 or more years' experience in Engineering and leadership roles. Must have substantial experience in a process industry setting, preferably chemicals, but also possibly water, pharma, plastics. Demonstrable management experience, having sat on a site leadership team previously. Good knowledge and experience of ISO9001 and ISO14001 manufacturing settings. Knowledge (and ideally qualification) in process control systems (PLC, DCS, etc.) would be highly desirable. Ability and confidence to communicate at all levels within the organisation. Must be a hands-on individual who is comfortable working closely with Engineers on the floor, as well as presenting to management about your initiatives and results. Exposure to leading manufacturing concepts/platforms such as Industry 4.0, Machine Learning/AI implementation would be desirable, but not essential.
