Senior / Executive Director, US Medical Affairs Operations New Jersey, US | full time | Job ID:8834 We are currently seeking an experienced, strategic leader to join our team leading Medical Affairs Operations . This role is a Senior Director/Executive Director level based in our Berkeley Heights, NJ office. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and lead the medical excellence backbone of our US Medical Affairs function including scientific communication, medical information, and clinical operations. The role will be critical to ensure the successful execution of our medical strategy. Key Responsibilities: Medical Affairs Leadership & Strategy: Lead and oversee critical capabilities within the Medical Affairs department, including medical excellence, scientific communication, medical information, and clinical operations ensuring alignment with company objectives and medical strategies. Drive strategic initiatives to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ensure timely delivery of critical medical activities. Work closely with senior leadership to provide actionable insights and support decision-making within the Medical Affairs team. Operational Excellence: Develop and implement best-in-class omnichannel medical communication and publications. Lead the medical information function ensuring compliance with the US regulations and requirements. Develop and coordinate the external engagement strategy including conference presence, and external stakeholders management. Oversee medical excellence initiatives to support the implementation of Medical Affairs strategies in the US. Manage the Medical Affairs budget, resources, and timelines, ensuring that operational goals are met within the allocated scope. Oversee the planning, execution, and tracking of clinical research across our registrational and non-registrational trial portfolio. Lead, mentor, and develop a large, high-performing team within Medical Affairs Operations. Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth. Provide direction and guidance to team members on strategic initiatives, operational processes, best practices, and strategic objectives. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and other functions, to ensure seamless integration of medical affairs across the organization. Serve as a key liaison between Medical Affairs and external stakeholders, including key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and industry collaborators. Foster and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication in the execution of medical plans. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure that all Medical Affairs activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry guidelines, and company policies. Identify and manage risks related to medical affairs operations and proactively develop strategies to address challenges. Qualifications: Education: Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within Medical Affairs, Scientific Communication, Medical Information, or related functions. Leadership: Proven experience in leading large, cross-functional teams with a focus on Scientific communication, clinical operations, medical excellence, and process optimization. Medical Affairs Expertise: Deep knowledge of medical affairs, clinical development processes, publication and regulatory standards, digital and omnichannel capabilities. Operational Skills: Strong background in managing complex projects, budgets, and timelines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals and drive business results. Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with a track record of resolving complex operational challenges.
