Overview We are looking for an Area Director Clinical Operations supporting our team in our Capitol territory, Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. This position will directly report to the Regional VP of Clinical Operations. This position will assume responsibility for clinical services and assure compliance with federal and state regulations as they apply to the provision of home visits to patients. To qualify for this position, you MUST be a Registered Nurse (RN), have a minimum of 2 years of home hospice management experience, and reside (or be willing to relocate to) Northern Virginia, Maryland, or Delaware. Responsibilities Direct and coordinate all direct and indirect patient services. Monitor agency level adherence to policies and procedures. Develop and implement annual education requirements for all clinical staff. Coordinate patient records and quality assurance activities. Collaborate with the appropriate corporate staff, Medical Director, Clinical Manager, and Executive Director and Administrators on a regular basis. Develop and expand revenue performance. Share responsibility for the supervision of day-to-day operations of the agency. General Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to Organization's Policy and Procedures. Act as a role model within and outside the Agency. Perform duties as workload necessitates. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Communicate regularly with supervisor about Department issues and keep management advised of potential problems in all areas. Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload. Consistently report to work on time prepared to perform duties of position. Meet Department productivity standards. Participate in working groups, councils, and committees. Ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Participate on committees, special projects, and seek additional responsibilities. Accomplish all tasks as appropriate. Recommend new approaches to effect ongoing continual improvements to policies, procedures, and documentation. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations. Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Consistently promote the company's core values. Complete required Compliance annual training. Essential Functions of Position Direct and coordinate all direct and indirect patient services. Monitor agency level adherence to policies and procedures. Develop and implement annual education requirements for all clinical staff. Coordinate patient records and quality assurance activities. Collaborate with Vice President and Area Vice Presidents of Operations in evaluation of agency administrators. Assure appropriate orientation of new hire nursing staff. Assist agencies in meeting and exceeding all applicable regulatory and company requirements, ensuring the implementation of the company's systems, policies, and standards in readiness preparation for all inspections, surveys, and review, including state licensure, federal certifications, and accreditations. Develop and expand revenue performance related to vendor management per patient day costs. Take overall responsibility for the quality of the clinical services provided at the agency including the home, hospital settings, nursing homes, and other locations. Assure the proper handling and resolution of any complaints from patients, families, and the public. Participate in the coordination of all aspects of the patient's hospice care and in the hospice's quality assessment and performance improvement program. Perform other duties as assigned. Specialized Knowledge/Skills Familiarity with state and federal guidelines and regulations. General working knowledge of budget development, financial profit/loss process, and human resources. Ability to work with confidential information. Well organized and confident to work independently, but is a team player. Ability to communicate clearly to remote field, mid-level, and executive staff. Exercise professional judgment and demonstrate good problem-resolution skills. Very comfortable working with multiple online and computer applications. Ability to balance multiple tasks and manage conflicting priorities. Education/Experience RN degree required; bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Two years previous managerial experience, of which 3 years is in hospice service industry. Familiarity with state and federal guidelines and regulations. About You Unencumbered RN license in the state of residence. 5 years clinical experience; minimum 3 years of experience in hospice. 2 years previous managerial experience. Strong knowledge in the area of hospice operations. Knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice. Strong leadership skills. Familiarity with state and federal guidelines and regulations. Able to travel throughout the assigned area routinely, approximately 75%. We Offer Opportunity to participate in a Fleet Program.
